@Adira: larger babies sometimes roll and sit later. It's more work for them physically to move around!!! I'm sure he is doing just fine.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@Adira: I second what @winniebee: said. I'm not sure where Logan ranks in head size, but C had a BIG head and that's what my pediatrician told me all the time, it's going to take a lot of strength to support the big head. And I always think of the little boy in Jerry Maguire.
@winniebee: yah for doing something different. I hope you can find a good groove for you and your family.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: Ahhh! Congratulations!!! That's so exciting!!!
@winniebee: @MamaG: And yeah - Xander was slow on these milestones too, so I'm not worried!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: Agree with others. K's cousin is 2 weeks older, much bigger and it took her longer to reach those milestones... They are so different even though they are so close in age, but both are happy and healthy!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: There's honestly something going on with them constantly! I was up with her every 2-3 hrs last. She has had a runny nose, and a slight fever here & there, so I don't know if it's that, or her top teeth coming in, or what!

@winniebee: congrats to you! i hope the transition goes smoothly for you!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@Adira: He'll figure it all out on his own time. Ethan didn't start rolling until a couple weeks ago, so 6-1/2 months and I know a lot of these babies were doing it well before then!
@winniebee: Congrats on going back to work, hope everything goes smoothly for you!
@snowjewelz: Hope it's a one-night thing for you!

Has anyone switched carseats yet? We're using a Graco Infant SnugRide CarSeat that is good to 30 lbs, but E's feet are right at the edge already and I just noticed his neck gets red from the straps. Thinking it's time to buy a convertible!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@josina: We have a snugride that's good to 35lbs. I do need to move the straps this weekend to the taller setting.
The key to watch for in the infant seat is the distance from the top of their heads to the top of the seat. I wouldn't get too worried about the other things you noted. I know they probably aren't "approved" but we have thin pads on our seat straps for her neck/shoulders. I picked them up at BRU. I think our seats came with some too, but they are long since lost since this is our second use of the seat.
ETA: Graco's website said the top of the head to the top of the seat should have a one inch gap.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@josina: how tall is he? I'd go by height over anything else - the Chicco key fit 30 (which we have) is 30 inches! So we won't switch Ryan until closer to age 1! ETA - he was 26.5 inches at 6m so probably will have to switch around 10 months.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: We haven't switched yet, but our infant seat has a height limit of 29 inches and Logan is 27 inches, so assuming he grows an inch a month, we'll have to do it soon. I've been watching for sales for the Graco Size4Me 65 (or any of its clones) because that's what we use for Xander and we like it.
ETA: And holy crap, I'm glad you brought this up, because it IS on sale! $150 on Amazon.com or Toys R Us. Not as good as the $137 I got for Xander's, but close enough!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@MamaG: We are all the way up for straps, but I think he had room from the top of his head to the top of the seat... I'll have to check tonight.
@winniebee: He is 28" already; I couldn't find a height limit on the car seat we have (looking online). I can check the book tonight.
Since I'm bored at work and thinking about it I just bought one...
@Adira: I got the Graco MyRide 65 from Kohls for $119 with $20 Kohls Cash... now I can buy some more onesie sets for him since he's quickly outgrowing them!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@josina: Yeah he will probably need it in a few months then might as well score a deal!
We have 2 convertible seats already for our 3 year old (and he will be in a seat for awhile!) - the Diono Radian and the Britax Boulevard. one is in my car (Diono) and one in my husband's. Now are we going to have two seats in both cars? UGH
persimmon / 1050 posts
@josina: We keep saying we need to switch M's seat, but haven't yet. He's in a Britax B-Safe, which goes to 30lbs, but he's getting to heavy to carry up to our 2nd floor apt. He falls asleep whenever in the car, so that's why we keep putting it off. Unfortunately, our garage is attached to our apt weirdly, so only access to it is outside.
@winniebee: Congrats!
M's sleep is pretty bad here too. He fusses when it's nap time (fake coughing and kinda crying) and then only sleeps for 20 minutes or so. Nights aren't too terrible once he finally goes down.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: We have this same issue. Except, I think we are going to move C to a high back harnessed booster (Britax Frontier) when we move K into the convertible. We have Britax Boulevard for convertibles currently.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@AngelicOne: Yes, Ethan is too heavy to carry anymore too so I usually take him out of the carseat anyways vs. carrying him and it in.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Oh good this made me go check! Britax B Safe is up to 32" so we're good for a while. She doesn't really love the infant seat tho, if she's close to the height limit around Thanksgiving/Christmas and we find a good deal on a convertible then we'll go for it then (or ask for it for her 1st bday hehe).

@Adira: I'm sure he is just fine If your pedi and you are not concerned I think he is fine! Also your a second time Mam, you know!

Up since 2:15 faught nap like CRAZY! We are off to another deputies house for dinner... Hope she is still happy come.tonight, or Better yet passes out on the way!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: We have the same setup. Two car seats for Xander and I just ordered two for Logan.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: hope she snoozed in the car! we had another doozy nap day too! Out like a light at 7. We have a wonder week that is over tomorrow.....hoping that's the issue! Lots of gross motor developing too so maybe that is it??? Suddenly he can sit unassisted and roll across the room.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: She is nuts...lol I truly think motor skills has a lot to do with it, she is sitting more, rolling, pushing up to crawl and talking up a storm!
She napped for 30mins
But had a blast over there!
I guess if she is happy I'm happy right!?
Glad R passed out

@whenoceansrise: @FaithFertility: I hope you guys got some better sleep last night!
@Adira: I'm sure Logan's doing well on his own curve! I think I would find it kind of stressful to get progress reports at this young age...
@winniebee: That's great news about work! Being home to feed R without having to worry about pumping is awesome too. Pumping adds so much stress to my day!
@josina: I don't think that J is technically growing out of his carseat - but he's definitely getting heavy! I think that I'll probably go another month or so with him in the bucket and just sometimes leave it in the car if it's more convenient (like at the grocery store he likes to sit in the front of the cart).
We recently moved big sister to a harness to booster seat so her convertible carseats (Britax Roundabout) are available for J when he's ready.

@MrsF: Better 2 wakes that involved me....I woke to her fussing a fee more times but she rolled and fell back asleep Thanks for asking!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@josina: ohhh man I have calasus on my right hand from holding her car seat........ that is sad and ridiculous....lol
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: we had a long car ride this morning so I kept Ryan up over 3 hours. Napped 30 mins. When will it end?!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: @MamaG: I think Tyler is too small for a booster!!
nectarine / 2210 posts
Definitely one perk of having a tiny baby is that I don't think we're anywhere near to growing out of a car seat. I'm still pretty good with carrying her in the car seat!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: I forget if you've said how big T is. The seat that we have M can be used in harness mode after the child is 2 years old and 25lbs.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: I have no idea she has been up for 3 hrs and no nap in sight......
I would try a 2-3-4 but her naps are not long enough....
I for now am saying screw it and hoping the sitter can get her on a routine...lol
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: How old is Ryan? I ask because Logan is 7 months in two days and actually napped well today for a change! Two hour nap this morning and then an hour nap this afternoon! It's probably a fluke, but I'm hoping it's the start of better naps...

Tonight is little misses last night in pnp
We decided crib time it is!
nectarine / 2210 posts
@Adira: we've had a surprisingly good week of naps soon. I actually woke K up from a 2 hour nap today and can't remember the last time that happened.
honeydew / 7283 posts
Any other big time thumb suckers yet? J sucks his right thumb as soon as I unlatch him when he's eating before nap or night and seems to suck it until he falls asleep. It's pretty funny because M sucks the same thumb, and only at bedtime.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: I hope the crib transition goes well! Does that mean going from your room into her own room?
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MrsF: Yep her sleep is bad right now anyway so Now is the time lol
nectarine / 2210 posts
@MrsF: K occasionally will, but when it happens it seems more chance than anything else.
