@snowjewelz: Yay to earlier bedtime
Yeah nursing to sleep is hit or miss here took, they are just sooo aware of it all!
G that other night was singing as she ate at 2 a.m. still latched

@FaithFertility: lol! (or really, not so lol when it's 2am)... It's okay, they'll get there one way or another!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@FaithFertility: Okay! I'm not talking about sleep today either.
I stuck my finger in K's mouth yesterday trying to feel for her top teeth. I forgot how sharp those new baby teeth are and just how firmly they can bite. It hurt!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: awww teeth, seriously I think G's are impacted..... this girl chews ALL day yet nothing

So SUPPOSEDLY (according to Hubs), Logan rolled a BUNCH belly to back yesterday. I didn't witness any of this rolling so...
BUT we did make some progress with sitting unassisted! He did it a bunch yesterday, though only for a couple minutes each time before he toppled. Definitely making progress though.

@Adira: Yay, Logan!!!! It's crazy how they accomplish these things!
G still will fall to the side sitting, I'm not 100% comfortable not being at an arms reach yet, many she needs to topple over to realize.....lol

Ohhhh did I mention I have a 1 hr massage booked for today and an adjustment at chiropractor!
My back is a mess, sooo excited!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: Yay! I hope your appointment today helps your back! My back has been messed up lately too, but apparently it's the way I've been sleeping. I've switched up how I sleep and it seems to be getting better. Hope you notice an improvement after today!

@whenoceansrise: ughhhh I'm so so very sorry!!!!!!! G is in this pattern too, but not every hr but every 2-3
With you working I can't imagine!

@FaithFertility: @Adira: it is so hard! i'm thinking about letting him cio but i don't know yet.. if it's just regression it'll get better, right?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@whenoceansrise: I feel like I've heard that some regressions don't get better until you sleep train...
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@whenoceansrise: So sorry! I think the whole first 4 years is a series of regressions. Seriously there's always one reason or another for their sleep to be all screwy.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@whenoceansrise: @FaithFertility: Sorry ladies. I really hope that sleep improves soon. Poor sleep is so challenging.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@Adira: I think this is true, regarding regressions.
We aren't in an ideal place yet, but some light sleep training and setting some limits has been key for us. It's not been easy, but it also hasn't been as horrible as I worked it up to be in my mind. K has a distinct angry cry that can only be resolved by eating. I know even that feeding for her is habit rather than hunger. And even though I struggle to give into the habit, I know that she will angry cry much longer than I am comfortable with or that I can tolerate MOTN. So we feed her in that situation and slog on.
And if I'm being completely honest I feel guilty because we don't have her in a good place with naps. And it's for purely selfish reasons. I can't stand us being stuck at home for so much of the weekend day trying to accomplish ideal naps for both kids. So K gets the short end and has to nap in the car or out and about and they are often crap naps. Her crap naps probably contribute to some of her overnight sleep issues. But I'm not willing to stay home all day to correct the problem.

@winniebee: four years is the magic number? You just sang praise to this Momma's ears if you mean that things are finally going to settle with C after four years Actually in terms of sleep she does pretty well. It's just the other stuff that still challenges me.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: Yay! I would totally believe him b/c once they do it, they just keep doing it!
@whenoceansrise: Hang in there! Sleep has been bad here too. But this too shall pass! We finally came out of the sleep late or be prepared for long MOTN wakes, so I know nothing lasts forever! But it really does make work suck that much more...
@MamaG: Don't beat yourself up! Esp having 2 kids, it's hard to just stay home (and it's not guarantee that naps will be great at home anyway!)

@whenoceansrise: So sorry! I hope its short lived! I've been there so I know how much it sucks with work!

Ryan is chewing on my nipples today and it's totally grossing me out!!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: I think with 2 you need to do what keeps each kiddo semi happy! You are doing a great job, even with one G naps a nap usually on the go as I hate being home all day
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: we cart Ryan around a fair amount as well. Oh well.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
No wonder Ryan has been chewing on my nipples. I just got my period. But I could have sworn I was ovulating last week. I'm sure my cycle is totally screwed up. I got my period back but it was at 7.5 weeks and then 10 weeks. Nothing since. I guess that explains why I was so annoyed at the world the last 2 days

I did it! I let her CIO MOTN. It took her closer to 20 minutes and my previous limit was 10. This was at 4:30 this morning. She just now woke at 6:30 and is practicing waving in her crib.
Oddly the big kid just woke too and instantly started singing the wheels on the bus.
I sure hope it's a good day.

@MamaG: nice work!! I have no tolerance for motn crying I wish I did.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: Oh wow, at least now you know! I do NOT miss my period...
@MamaG: Yay!!!! Glad CIO worked for you!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: haha! but boo for period
@MamaG: Yay!
@whenoceansrise: Ugh, K's sleep was SO bad last night too! Stayed up between 2:30-4, then up every hour after that! Zombie mode today

I truly believe we all have different tolerances and this sleep and cry business and it's sort of a moving target. After two nights of amazing sleep, and a couple of weeks of this 2-3 night of STTN then a night or two of not, I know she can do it. And it was time for me to put on my big girl pants and let her try to work it out. I finally was over making excuses of why I couldn't do it and why she shouldn't need to STTN.

@MamaG: Glad things went well! It's so hard to hear them cry but when they go back down and then wake up happy it definitely helps me feel better that it wasn't a hunger issue.

M has had a horrible cold and a fever this week. I've been trying to keep the germs away from J of course, but it's a losing battle. He's super congested and was up ALL night on Sunday night. DH and I alternated letting him sleep on us in the rocking chair just so that he could breathe and sleep. I had to get up for work at 4:45am. Got home at 9pm and crashed. Luckily he slept better last night but omg I'm still exhausted. He's been sleeping so well and I'm sure this is going to mess it all up too

i'm so far behind! but Paris was fantastic, all my travels (and pumping constantly...) went super smoothly, and the kids were great. E learned to clap and cut 2 teeth in the 6 days i was gone

@winniebee: I've had two periods so far- I just got off my second one and my supply seemed to be kind of low. I wonder if that was the cause?
@MamaG: Good job! I can't bring myself to try that yet, but I so wish I could!
@snowjewelz: ughh, I'm sorry! I hope you are able to get some good rest over the holiday weekend!
So last night we put Micah to sleep at around 7:45- by 8:30 we had already had 3 wake ups. & I'm not going to lie, I was in bed and was falling as soon as I got M to sleep-... then bam, he wakes up.
I lost count of how many times I had to get up to soothe him back to sleep but around 3:00 he woke again but was just lightly crying/fussing and I guess I was just so exhausted that I accidentally fell back asleep without going to soothe him back to sleep and woke up like 30 minutes later and he was sleeping soundly. This happened 3 times. So I'm thinking that maybe I go and get him too soon after wake ups and I should at least let him try to soothe himself back to sleep. But then if it doesn't work it takes me even longer to get him back to sleep.

@MrsF: Booo!!! Sorry about the illnesses in your house! Sick kids are rough. Hope everyone feels better soon.
@KayKay: Clapping!!! That's awesome! Soooo jealous about your trip, but glad you had fun!
@whenoceansrise: I have totally done that before! Wake up to Logan fussing and I'm exhausted and don't get up right away and then the next thing I know, I'm waking up later and he's asleep! If he was REALLY upset, he'd cry loud and long and you wouldn't be able to sleep through it! I'm an advocate of not rushing in immediately and letting them try to figure it out on their own at this age.

@whenoceansrise: i really liked this chart that Mrs. High Heels had posted when i was working with K on her sleep, especially the column about Wait To Soothe times for nightwakings!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@Adira: I am defintely going to give him some time before rushing in from now on!
@KayKay: Thank you! That chart is super helpful!

@KayKay: sooo jealous! Dave promised me a trip to France. But I think we are going to Ireland instead. Impressive with clapping!!
