@MamaG: Glad all is well with no reflux meds!
@winniebee: Did Ryan sttn for you since you threatened to sleep train?
@FaithFertility: Poor girl. I think E struggled with that too... once he started sitting/standing up in the crib our sleep got worse for awhile... but...
I've had 4 nights this week of 6+ hour stretches, and one almost 9. OMG heaven. Hopefully he keeps it up but I'm probably jinxing it by posting. He is sick again though with a cold, so hopefully it's not just because of that, and hopefully no ear infection to follow.
With E getting tubes, our consult is scheduled for the 25th but DH is starting a new job, which means COBRA for 2 months before his new (much better (yay)) insurance kicks in. So now we will have to postpone the tubes for at least 2 months. And then I'm almost thinking since we will be so close to the new year we could maaaybe (selfishly) wait till January so we can capitalize on the deductible with new baby next year (hopefully). *Come on E's ears, cooperate with this plan!
...edit: adding that since he is always happy as can be even with the ear infection thats why I want to wait if possible; if he was getting a fever each time or miserable, we'd go ahead right away.
@snowjewelz: So cute, I'll be looking for the video later. Looks like she had a fun weekend!

@josina: I hope E temporarily gets better till the new year too lol! Glad the sleep is going so well! I am tired of bad sleep! I think I really need to bite the bullet and deal with really bad sleep for a while but push her to sleep in her own bed/room!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@snowjewelz: E's sleep got so much better when he moved to his own bed, and i think a lot of it is that we shut off the monitor, so I only hear him if he's crying loudly or really upset. A lot of times he will wake up and get himself back to sleep within a few minutes. Good luck when/if you decide to move her!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: I should've done it earlier! B/c now even if I want to put her down asleep, I have no idea how I can put her allll the way at the bottom now that we lowered the crib! I feel like she'd wake up right away for sure.

@snowjewelz: I guess thats where the sleep-training came in for us when we moved him at 4 months. But even now I usually nurse to sleep, and if he wakes up & cries when I set him down I'll rub his back till he falls back asleep. Often he'll just roll over and pass back out.

@MamaG: ohhh yes, I let G play/babble for as long as she will, then the crying started and I just have no back bone for it longer than a minute
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: ughhh Yes, now that her crib is all the way down it is hard to set her in , she wakes most of the time for a minute fussies but by the time I reach her door she stops and is asleep!
K saying baby I CANT WAIT to hear, love these babes!!!!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: Sigggh I hope she will eventually fall back asleep too! I don't foresee that happening right away! Please K, prove mommy wronnnng!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: It is so hard....G has proven me wrong in the crib department so I pray the same for you!
I still nurse her to sleep or at least to sleepy....
That I don't know when I will stop...lol
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: If only that works for us! She had gotten so bad lately that sometimes I have to wear her! And I usually hold her horizontally, lately she only wanted to be held vertical?! lol

so last night it took over an hour to get micah to go to sleep. he was sooo sleepy and he'd freak out every time i'd offer a breast and he'd cry while rocking/walking/swaying. finally i got him to latch on and he fell asleep. no idea what that was about, but he went down around 9:00 and slept through the night! i had to wake him up at 7:00am to get him ready to leave!

@snowjewelz: Aww can't wait for the video.
@josina: Hope E's ears cooperate with the plan!
M went to bed at 7pm last night, woke to eat at 10:45pm, fussed for a couple of minutes around 2am, and slept until 6:15am. I wish all nights were this good!

I worked the whole holiday weekend and now I'm so behind of course! I'll read to catch up but I hope everyone had a fun weekend
eggplant / 11861 posts
@whenoceansrise: awww G was wonky like that too last night took about 30 mins to go to bed
Up from 3-4
Slept then until 7:15
Yay, for STTN though

@snowjewelz: Funny if I try to rock G on my shoulder she pushes off me.....lol
honeydew / 7283 posts
@snowjewelz: Yup! I'm off until this Sunday. This is Molly's first week of preschool so I'm glad that I'll be here.
@FaithFertility: Yeah - J lets me rock him sometimes but if he's really tired he's literally pushing away from me to get me to put him down in his crib. Growing up too fast!

I think the craziness has finally started to settle. K starts her preschool tomorrow, DH is back to work, and I'm ready for a routine.
I have been doing a lot of reading and not much responding. But all the babies are getting so big!
We went back to DH's hometown for the holiday weekend. It was for a baby shower for his bro/wife...but they unexpectedly had their baby at 35+2, so the little peanut got to make an appearance instead SO TINY! Although...he was 5lbs 10oz when born, so pretty big for that early. It did kinda make me want another one though.
Anyone have any luck with shifting sleep schedules? E wakes up at 5:20a EVERY morning. I've alternated between leaving here there (awake) til 6-630a or trying to feed her and put her back down, but she's pretty consistent. And I've (inconsistently) tried earlier or later bedtimes, but I'm not sure either has really had the intended effect...although hard to tell because I probably changed too many variables at once I'm just SO over waking up at 530a since I can never fall back asleep!

@KayKay: That will be nice to be in a routine again.
How awesome that you got to meet the LO instead of just traveling for the shower! (Assuming they're not local?)
My boss has 2-week old twins born 6 weeks early and I got to see them for the first time yesterday, Tiny 5 lb babies as well! Definite baby fever!
No help on the sleep department, luckily E will always go back to sleep after his 5 am wake-up/feed, although this morning he decided to 'play' in our bed for 20 minutes till he fell back asleep.

@KayKay: i hope the new routine goes well!! R is an early bird. He doesn't consistently STTN but when he does he's up for the day by 5:30. He goes to bed by 7 or 7:30 and going later usually backfires. Earlier than 7 is harder to achieve. Some kids are just early risers. My first was the same way, didn't sleep past 6 until after age 1.

You guys won't believe this, but after 2 weeks, I'm on to a new nanny. The first one was just....strange....very nice, but strange and I don't feel she is good with details and is just a bit flighty. And called out twice by the 3rd week. I had another good option and I'm going for it. I have to let the first nanny go tomorrow and I am dreading that but looking forward to having the other in my house more permanently. I've been so unproductive at work because of all of this....
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: Aww, it sucks to have to do it, but hopefully you will be that much happier with a nanny that you like 100%!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@KayKay: Argh! K woke up at 6:20 and that was too early for me lol. I really don't know what is up with these kids!
We finally took one step with sleep last night, the first sleep crunch in the name of the merlin magic sleep suit came off. She dare I say, slept better! She did a 7 hr stretch (8:30-3:30). But the bad thing is if she starts fussing and I leave her, she rolls over and starts crawling around the bed so I essentially have to hold her and rock her back to sleep. And I think the freedom was what got her up early today.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: Hey that is great, yes G is having that issue as a new crawler when she wakes she crawls around
pear / 1961 posts
@winnibee: @josina: @snowjewelz: yeah, i think she is just an early riser, unfortunately. if i feed her when she wakes up at 530a, often she will go back to sleep. but maaaaybe til 7. and that's not even a sure thing. so i basically decide every morning if i'm going to feed her and hope she goes back to sleep or just let her play for 30-60 minutes. either way i don't really fall asleep though. oh well.
ETA: she goes down like a dream and doesn't make a peep the whole night, so i *shouldn't* complain!
@winniebee: sometimes you just know! better to cut ties early before the kids get any real attachment to her.

Yesterday, I asked our DCP to start stretching bottles out further as we've noticed at home that she can often go about 4 hours between. And she eats more there than at home. The teacher took it upon herself to try out the sippy with formula as well. She's been getting a sippy with water for awhile now. She drank her whole bottle out of the sippy. So it looks like we might be bottle weaning already. We are going to start with the daytime feeds first at school (2 of them). We will tackle the morning/bedtime later. Honestly, with C we didn't give up the bedtime one until right at a year when we took the bottle away. I'm okay with repeating that.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: that's awesome! one less thing to have to worry about changing at the year mark.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@KayKay: same here - it's hit or miss whether ryan goes back down if he wakes at 5/6...but i pretty much always offer nursing because he just MIGHT go back down...and if he does and I can't....then I might just have 30 minutes of time to myself without anyone in the house awake : )
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: those 30 min can mean so much!
@KayKay: heh, I'll def take early wake up for going down easy AND STTN!
@MamaG: that's great! K never loved the bottle THAT much so hopefully transition will be easy for us!

@KayKay: I hope everyone is settling well into your new routine. M starts preschool tomorrow too That's great that the baby is doing well and that you got to meet him!
J used to get up about 5 and then eat and maybe go back to sleep for a bit. Now he is getting up at 6 for the day. It still feels early to me! I don't think M slept much past that until she dropped to 1 nap though... 5:20 is early though - not cool!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: That's too bad that the nanny didn't work out well Probably better to move on before too many attachments are formed and things get more complicated. I'm glad that you have another good option though!
Things didn't work out well with our sitter over the summer and I still have a bad feeling about it. She was only here weekly for the summer and it just wasn't worth firing her, but she just got worse and worse.. Our new nanny starts next week. I'm very excited about her but nervous because obviously I was very wrong about the other nanny

@mamag: that's awesome! it's great to have flexibility with something(s) so that you can just make the switch and go with it.

Miracle of miracles, D is drinking from a cup. She took 3 ounces at lunch. We just moved B to a big boy bed and he slept in till 6:30. Lol. Early risers here!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@BandDmommy: That's great about the cup! Early rising is one of the hardest parts of parenting for me. I am just not a morning person...
