@MamaG: I'm really looking forward to them being able to interact with each other too! M keeps telling me "when baby J gets older, he'll talk to me!".
I'm sure it'll have its pros and cons, but I can't wait

@MamaG: awwww I so wish DH could stay home with G......again I've always said I admire mama of 2 or more dad's too......
@winniebee: Ughhh heart melting!
I've heard of Sex? Was it how we got the babe??...lol Sounds good in theory but I'm nervous as all hell....
@josina: nahhhh sorry about your period, I thought mine was on its way, but not yet!

@whenoceansrise: seriously! I told DH I really can't think about it until she consistently has 5-6 hr stretches which do not exist!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: We have those stretches, but the thought scares me....lol I feel great but that makes me cringe a little

Sigh I'm really driving myself nuts today reading about sleep. K still needs to be held for naps and night sleep is still very eh. With not even a month left I am just so nervous that we are not ready for me to go back to work!
I just feel kinda down.. I know that every baby is different but I keep feeling like if I only know what to do she would sleep better and that I must be missing something?!

@FaithFertility: yeah the actual act scares me a little too. I was told to use lube too bc we are extra dry from bf hormones or something?!

@snowjewelz: sorry your down I have no advice, but know your doing great!

Ugh, I need to B in preschool. I should have DH stay at home one time and it wouldnt be a question. He's going to Mother's Day out program tomorrow morning and then our mothers helper will be over tomorrow. So, just me and D tomorrow!

@snowjewelz: Sleep is so hard I came across troublesometots.com yesterday and she seems to have lots of good advice. You're right though - every baby is different!

@BandDmommy: I feel so grateful that our schedules have always forced DH and I to share the childcare on and off so he REALLY knows what it's like. I hope you and D have a nice girls' day tomorrow!

I found sex much better this time.. We may not have waited until I got clearance from the doctor

@BandDmommy: I think if Ryan slept more than 3h I might consider it but as it is I go to bed at 830 when he does!!
@snowjewelz: don't stress too much babies change soooo much in a month! Trust me I've done this before and thought this sleep thing would be a cinch now that I knew what to do and....my baby is probably the worst sleeper of this group. You can encourage good sleep habits but I don't think there is much you can really do before 4m. A great book is healthy sleep habits happy child. It's not a one size fits all and I used some of the advice but it is definitely helpful in terms of understanding sleep issues and sleep patterns.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Speaking of sleep Ryan has been sleeping alllll day again. It's 415 and he has been a awake 2 hours since 730 (eating every 2-3 but falling back asleep most times). Same as yesterday. Not complaining as we are having a lovely snow day inside all cuddled up.

@snowjewelz: @winniebee: I definitely agree on healthy sleep habits happy child. Helped me tremendously the first time around.

@snowjewelz: big thumbs up to Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child. i actually didn't like it that much before i had K because i wanted something more prescriptive, but after i had her (and realized that babies don't read & follow prescriptive advice!), i loved that it gave ideas but stressed that you couldn't spoil your newborn and reinforced that all kids are different.
4 weeks is a long time for a newborn! you'll get there.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: @winniebee: thanks! I have happiest baby on the block but haven't managed to read it haha. I've been reading good stuff online but I feel like there are a lot of conflicting advice and it's hard to know what works for your baby!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: k sleeps a lot during the day too. She nurses for a long time and I can barely get in tummy time before she gets tired again. I'm praying sleep is better tonight since DH is back to work after snow day.

@BandDmommy: same here, lol. I guess I should be thankful I've actually got my period and am not pregnant already since we totally weren't careful!
I was super nervous for it too, but by 7 wks was fine and now (9) is great. Although we r talking mid day, I am not about to give up my sleep at night!

@snowjewelz: sleep is hard! I can tell you that K isn't a great "napper". She took 4 naps at daycare yesterday (between 8:00 and 5:45). They were in the 45-85 minute range. She also still has a pretty fussy period in the evening and we don't really attempt to settle her to "sleep" until 10:30 or later.
Eventually we will work toward a bedtime between 7:00 and 8:00 but we just aren't there yet. I don't feel like our night time sleep is consistent yet either. But I'm hoping so I can rely upon her wakeup time and not having any MOTN wakeups.
Of course, part of what is different for us is K is FF, which I think leads to STTN sooner, generally speaking.
I'm also really trying to do the drowsy thing with K. We never succeeded with C and I spent many hours rocking her to sleep until we sleep trained.

@josina: I haven't gotten my period yet. Which is weird since it was back by 8 weeks last time.

I layed Micah in his rnp sleepy but awake and he fell asleep on his own! In the rnp! Without me holding him! Haha- I never thought that would happen

@snowjewelz: Just popping in to say sorry you are feeling down and that I went through the same thing! My first LO was a lot like yours it sounds like as far as sleep goes. She was held for pretty much all naps until she was 6+ months old (probably closer to 9 months), only took 30-45 min naps until closer to a year old, didn't sleep more than 4 hour stretches at night until well past 6 months old, and didn't sleep through the night consistently until 14 months. We tried a lot of different things to "fix" her, but the one thing that really helped was time. She is a great sleeper now and actually asks for naps or to go to bed, sleeping 2+ hours for naps and 8pm-7am roughly every night. So don't feel like you are doing anything wrong, some babies are just tough when it comes to sleep! Just do what you feel you need to to get through and know it will get better eventually. Hang in there!

@BandDmommy: I thought I would have months since I'm breastfeeding but guess not.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: that's amazing! I hope he is giving you a good stretch on his own!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsScallop: thanks for taking the time to encourage me and tell me your LO's sorry! It is encourage rhst they can become great sleepers all on their own.
So glad C is doing well. I hope he can go home soon! I know ultimately having s healthy LO is what matters!

@winniebee: mrsscallop posted two updates on FB tonight. Not sure if you are following Charlie's page. Her second update was pretty positive.

M slept for 2 hrs in his swing for a nap finally. Lately he's been all about the short naps & making himself overtired. I'll be happy when he finally sleeps longer than 3 hrs at night.

Am I supposed to call the pediatrician because Logan has a cold? Hubs just asked me and it didn't even occur to me to do so (because what can they do about it anyway? It's a cold).

@Adira: can you just leave a message for the nurse and ask her if you need to come in?
persimmon / 1328 posts
@winniebee: We are doing well for the most part! Not sure if you saw, but Charlie had another surgery yesterday to fix his dialysis catheter, but he has otherwise been doing great after his heart surgery. Life in and around the hospital isn't so fun, but I feel like we should be able to go home in the next couple weeks (fingers crossed!).
@BandDmommy: thank you!
@snowjewelz: no problem! Hope you are feeling a little better about it all.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: thanks! I checked the page after posting to her. I hope he continues to do well. What a roller coaster
@Adira: I did not when Ryan had the cold. He was stuffy and coughed randomly for a few days and did not nurse as well. I rely on my husband who is a doctor and he said we didn't have to call since he wasn't in distress didn't have a fever and had good output. He was stuffy for probably 5 days but his nursing went back to fine after a few days.

@MrsF: I really like that site! I like the way it's written. It's helpful without making me feel bad! I wss on another site and felt like I was being lectured!

@MrsScallop: when he is able to go home, will he be free of all tubes? Will he still require special care at home?

@snowjewelz: I like her style too! I like that she references Weissbluth (author of my favorite baby sleep book) and Ferber, etc. I feel like she's not just making this stuff up, but presenting it in a way that you can follow.
