I'll have had the exact same number with all three pregnancies. But not all the same scans... just worked out that way.

Nope, had the same amount (one every OB appt). All covered by insurance though.

I'm having a few more ultrasounds with #2 than I did with #1 since DS was an IUGR baby. We want to make sure we catch it early on if she is unlike DS.

I'm happy with the extra ultrasounds since i get to see her a bit more often and she how she's growing. I pay my dr co-pay for each ultrasound so it's not bad, and worth it for me. If I had to pay the actual ultrasound price, then that'd be pretty steep!

I had more with my second because that's how the OB I saw did things. I skipped like 3 and I think he was confused as to why! For the next, I plan on finding someone who just does the basic ones unless there is an issue. I'm not super comfortable getting so many scans.

I had way fewer with my second pregnancy but only because it was less high risk than my first. All my ultrasounds in both pregnancies were covered by insurance.

I thought I was going to have a lot more with my first (8 total - NT scan, one to check for abnormalities due to positive toxoplasmosis screen, then 6 scans to monitor for incompetent cervix). But it turns out I'm going to have almost the same amount with this one (7 total - 8 week scan, anatomy scan, fetal echo, then 1 per week the last 4 weeks to monitor my fluid levels because I'm AMA).

We won't do an elective gender scan this time, but I'm already having more than with my first because of a cyst they're watching.

This time, I'll only have two (dating scan will be done at the same time as the NT scan, and then the anomaly scan) - unless of course issues arise making further scans necessary.

I've had one anatomy scan and that's it. If/when I have another, I'll try to limit it that that as well. There's some evidence that shows u/s are harmful. The pros don't outweigh the potential cons for me. But I know I'm extreme and lucky I wasn't considered high risk even ama!

No – I should have the same amount with all pregnancies (one at each OB appointment plus the anatomy scan). But they are all covered by insurance. I was not interested in paying extra for a 3-D scan.

Yes, with my first I paid for a private scan at 8 weeks as I was so anxious. With this one I have just had the standard NHS 2 scans - at 12 weeks and 20 weeks - I won't have any more unless there are issues later on.

I had a lot of scans with my first - I think the longest stretch I went without one was like a month one time. I had miscarriage risk, we had been about to start IVF when I got pregnant so the RE scanned me at 7weeks to check if I was really pregnant, then I got a complete previa and had two fender benders AND one day where he just stopped moving so I went to L&D.

I think since I'm AMA with this one I'll have plenty but we wont do the elective gender screen at the private scan place. The gender one actually weirded me out.

My insurance covers anything prenatal so I never have to pay.

I had a lot more with my first than I did my second.
My first I was part of a clinic that did free ultrasounds once a month. I had 4 of those and then had 3 at the OB and 3 at the hospital because of preterm labor. I kept going into preterm labor and getting shots to stop it.

With my second I one hospital one early on due to bleeding at 8 weeks. Then I had 3 at the OB office. My last one was at the hospital after I fell into a car door and DS wasn't moving as much.

I had a lot more ultrasounds with #2 because of some abnormalities showed up in our anatomy scan that needed to be monitored. But, even thought I was AMA, if the scan had been all clear I would have had one less US than my first.

I had 2 with D, 1 with S and a LOT with M, due to S's history.

I had 3 (early, 1st tri, anatomy), and will likely do that again. It seemed important to ensure baby/placenta was developing properly, and was healthy enough for birth at home.
