I think we have better access to more resources now, but the pressures and expectations of society have increased too. I'm not sure... it might even out when all the factors are weighed.
My initial gut reaction was that it was simpler back then.

Definitely..

While we have more resources like megwag mentioned.. I think the general institution of family and childrens innocence has just about gone out the window and that makes raising kids how we'd like harder and definitely takes more against the grain work.

I know that my parents didn't have to worry about us being exposed to so many of the things I find myself having to filter for 7 y/o DS today... and like you mentioned, more moms were SAHM so there was more of a "community" & connected feel to family then there is now with both parents being out of the house in many instances.

I know that everyone generation has had it's hard aspects though, I just think that our generation has alot of up stream fighting to instill the things we'd like.

My mom says the same thing. She sees my sister and I struggling and exhausted and we both only have 1 each and my mother had 4 at one point she had 3 little ones with 2 of them under a year apart! And like most in their generation the husbands weren't very hands on.

I think we have over complicated things in our age with all the technology and gadgets and chasing the latest and greatest for our children and we kill ourselves with guilt. My mom told me there was only 1 bottle and 1 nipple and everyone used the same things. She used to poke the holes with a needle to make it bigger when we got older for the fast flow.

I also think one of the major contributing factor is also cost of living and inflation. Everything has gotten soo expensive it's really hard for families to have one parent stay at home and still be able to maintain a quality life. So I definitely think it was easier back then but we have more at our disposal, almost too much.
