@Foodnerd81: Oh, you know what? My drops might spray too - I always just hold it upside down and let it drip into his nostrils, but I should check to see if I can spray. And good call about youtube videos - I definitely want to make sure I know what I'm doing before I just attempt it and make a blunder of it!

Yes it definitely works! The other thing that is really good for us, is getting them out during the bath every night before bed (not with the freida). The water helps to loosen things up and I think it doesn't bother them as much because they are distracted.

It works, everyone tells me how gross it is blah blah but it is amazing.
@Ra: yea exactly. How can I pin you kid so that you can't move and I can do this?

It works, kind of....I've never gotten copious amounts of mucous out, like some people talk about, but I get enough to where LO can breathe slightly better.
I have to hold LO down in a weird way--I lay down on the bed next to where she is laying and I throw one leg up and over both arms to pin them down. Then I use one hand to hold her head in place, and one hand to put the Nose Frieda in her nostril. Otherwise, she shakes her head so violently, I can't get it in her nose.
Okay, so that sounds pretty awful, but it only takes about 20 second total and then we move on, and she's fine.

@Anagram: haha, it doesn't sound horrible! I've done similar holds on Xander for giving him his inhaler or using the bulb or even when we were trimming his hair!

Nose Frida is the best. Saline spray and that gets so much out!

It works well, but I just wish DS didn't hate it so much - he cries and then his nose gets stuffy again from the crying!

Well, I got the NoseFrida! Xander friggin' HATES it, but it DOES work!!! Much better than the bulb aspirator and I like knowing that I got it clean afterwards.
So thank you everyone for your advice! I'm happy we got it!!

Hope he gets used to it soon! I do it standing or sitting behind LO, I think it's less in-your-face that way. Plus you can sneak attack when they're in their highchair and strapped down. Since X is old enough to understand cause and effect, what really helped my LO is after I suction him I'll show him all the mucus in the tube and say "Look at all that was in your nose!! Now you can breathe!" And I take a huge exaggerated breath to make him laugh and invite him to do it with me. Now he'll ask for it, "Mama, need suction!"

@MamaChin: That's a really great tip about the cause and effect and show Xander all that I sucked out!! I will definitely try that next time!
