I'm looking to refresh our book collection for DD (almost 2.5). Most of our books seem either too old or too young for her currently. She's lost interest in many of her favorites as a baby but she loses attention with books like Pout Pout Fish, Giraffes Can't Dance, etc. (too many words). Any suggestions?

A Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo is my 2.5 year old’s favourite but it is a lot of words. -
My oldest is almost 4 now, but I'd say after 3 she loved the Pinkalicious books! And also a billion Little Golden Books about Disney princesses and popular shows/movies she watches.
We've been checking out these big 5 minute story books from the library and they're a big hit too.

My 2.5-year-old LOVES Elephant and Piggie and the pigeon books by Mo Willems.

It's interesting to me that she can't sit through Giraffes Don't Dance or Pout Pout Fish - DS is the same way with those two and I love them! DS is nearly 2, but he LOVES The Little Engine that Could (my version, from 1979!) and Corduroy. They are pretty long, but there is something about those classics that hold his attention more than a lot of the newer books. Good Night Construction Site and Steam Train, Dream Train are also favorites. He's gotten really picky lately, so I feel your pain!

@snowjewelz: Yes to the short Litte Golden books. Both my boys are obsessed with superheros and they love a Paw Patrol Pirate one (we don’t even have cable🤣).

I would also say mine re-gravitated towards younger books because she could read the story herself and she liked reading it to us.

@skinnycow: Too funny, we almost never read the whole thing any more either but every night after we’ve read his books he likes to “yell at the stink bug” - we just turn to the one specific page and he yells “YOU ARE NOT IN CHARGE!”

My 2.5 year old likes Pete the Cat!
He also likes interactive books too. We picked up one from the Book Fair about High Fiving the different animals on each page. Super cute. -
My almost 2.5 yr old is obsessed with Curious George; he has enough to rotate a different book a night for at least 3-4 weeks. He also likes “What Should I Wear?,” which is about a boy that needs his stuffed bear to help him get dressed and “Corduroy Bear.” DH bought him kiddie Black Panther comic books and those are the books he usually packs to take with us on outings along with “Blue & Other Colors” an art book feature my Henri Matisse’s later work.
I’ll have to check out some of the other books mentioned since I’m ready for a book refresh even if LO isn’t.

My nearly 2 1/2 year old loves the Matthew Van Fleet books Tails, Heads, and Alphabet someone on here also recommended the Dog book by him too. He also loves Mo Willems Piggie & Elephant and the Pigeon books, Knuffle Bunny, and Click Clack Moo.
His Great Grandma also signed him up for the Bookroo subscription where he gets 3 board books a month (individually wrapped so he loves unwrapping them too), and when he gets older she will switch him to the Picture Book subscription which is 2 picture books, and there is even a chapter book level when he's even older.

-a book with a collection of nursery stories (Three Little Pigs, Red Riding Hood, etc)I also agree with the big 5 minute story books. We have a couple of those and the stories are quick and simple.

He likes books where you count or just the ones that teach you words with their corresponding photos. Also seek and find books where he looks for the hidden objects. And Richard Scary.
