How many would you have? I'm just curious because I see a lot of people who say they would go for a third if they don't get their boy or girl the second time around. Would it change your family size? We are only having two but I would love three no matter the sex.

We're only having two and they will both be boys. For one, we can't really afford more. But for another, I really don't want to turn into my grandmother who kept trying for a girl. She had FIVE boys before she had a girl and then thought her luck had changed and had two more boys! No thank you!

We're basing our family size on what we can comfortably afford, not the sex. So it wouldn't change anything.

I want 3 but I don't want to go through pregnancy again so that's a bigger factor than if I have another girl this time. I know someone who just had a third and she has 3 boys. No thanks. I'm one of 3 girls. No thanks. We are still drama central at times.

@swedishfish: Haha, I'm one of two girls and it stresses my mom out all the time! I'm a big believer that you get what you need / can handle (cliche, I know).

I want 3, right now, though I could change my mind. I don't think it matters if they're all boys. It would be nice to get a girl, but I don't want to be like my grandmother, who had 7 daughters before giving up on ever having a son, haha.

This is actually a super interesting question, because - yes - it would change my answer.
We have a girl.
If we have a boy next, we could possibly be done. I'm not sure.
If we have a second girl, I will push HARD for a 3rd. NOT because I will be trying for a boy, but because I think there is too much competition in 2-girl families, especially if they are close in age. I know that having 3 kids creates a 2 against 1 dynamic, but at least that dynamic shifts constantly. With two girls, it's just too much (speaking from traumatized experience...
). @Swedishfish: and LuluMom: Is this *completely* crazy???

If I knew the 3rd would be another girl (if we have 2 girls) I would not go for a 3rd. I'm not convinced I want 3, but 3 girls scares me (I grew up with 2 sisters, I know how much drama it can be!)

I have a boy right now, and if our second is a boy, I think I'm actually more likely to be done because I'm not sure if I can handle three boys. If our second is a girl, then maybe the option for a third is still on the table. But this depends on other factors as well (such as how I handle pregnancy the second time around, where we live, etc).

We want 3 but DH wants 4. We'll see how we feel after this little girl arrives. I wouldn't mind all girls, though. That will be expensive come prom/homecoming/wedding time!

@septca: nope, I don't think it is crazy. Part of why we want 3 is that I would rather a varied dynamic, actually.

@septca: there is absolutely more competition between my sisters because they are very close in age. I'm older by 5 and 7 years than my sisters so I wasn't as close to them until they grew up. The dynamic definitely shifts like the wind! I'm closer to one sister now but it could change tomorrow.

I can't imagine having this many, but I will go with my husband'husband's max of three. The sex wouldn't change the number.

Nope doesn't change how many kids we want! We want four and already have two boys (our lo #2 is set to arrive shortly). We used to say we would try til we got one of each but then realized that was.really silly ;). Our boy taught us ender doesnt matter, i look more at perspnality. Were happy with whatever we get in life
