We're definitely done after two. We're going to have a daughter this time around, but even if we had another son, I'm pretty sure we'd be done... unless we won the 100 million dollar lottery. 
How many children do you plan to have? And do your plans for # of children depend on the sex of your next child?

Originally I wanted 3 but, after much consideration we decided we only want two. If by chance the 2nd one is a girl I am willing to try one more time for a little boy.

I think we'll be quite happy with two children. We might consider trying for a third if the previous two were the same gender, but definitely no more than three for us!

i originally wanted 3 but after trying this parenthood thing for a year and a half now i want to say no more. my husband wants another one and i would love for my daughter to have a sibling but parenting is just so hard!

I'm okay with having 3, but my husband wants only 2, so for now we are only planning on 2. I have a little boy and trying to conceive baby#2 right now and regardless of the sex of the baby we'll stop after baby #2

Me: No number smaller than 2.
Although I think he'd be ok with 1 - he says that for laughs. I also catch him throwing the word 'kids' around! We're trying for #2 right now - and I probably shouldn't press my luck after that. My final number would be 4.. even though that is CRAZY to think about

When I was younger I always wanted four, then later changed to three. I love having siblings and I want my kids to have that too.

does this sound insane? i'd actually like 4-5. i am an only child and as much as i enjoyed (and relished) in being the center of my parents life it was also kind of a pain. now that i'm older i really wish i had siblings to grow old with... and then when i got married i realized my children wouldn't have any cousins/aunts/uncles on my side

originally I wanted 3-4, but hubs was set on 2. His logic? It would be easier to go on amusement park rides! ha! Really though we both come from families that have 2 kids and I think a family of 4 will work better for us. Although I am expecting a boy now, and if the next one is a boy as well we might just have to try for number 3 just to see if a little girl might come along

I change my mind about this all the time. When we first got married, we we're throwing out really big numbers. Now that we are in the thick of things I see us being a 5 person household, maybe even just 4 (so two or three kids). I have a hard time coming to terms with the idea of sacrificing enough of what I want to have that many kids. I'm not sure I'm doing a very good job with one, and wouldn't my parenting quality just go downhill with each child? (Less of me to go around, more frazzled, etc)

we always wanted a big family my hubby comes from a family of 4 and i'm an only child, growing up wasn't fun and I hope that my children wont have to go through that, but luckily i already have 3. They are my world at ages 47 months, 26 months and 11 months my life is crazy, while still working full time. Hopefully i can pop one more out, but after 3 c-sections i think i need to think of my health as well.

Well, we have two--one together, and mine from a previous relationship. We've discussed having maaaaybe just one more, but not anytime soon. So, for now, we're done. We've both definitely agreed that IF we were to have one more child, that would most certainly be our stopping point.
I'm an only child, and he's the oldest of 4, so 2 or 3 is a happy medium, lol.

I love babies and children, so I have a feeling I'm going to want at least three, but I haven't even had my first yet, so what do I know? I think gender will definitely play a part for us because I really want a girl and my husband really wants a boy at some point. If we get as lucky as Mr. and Mrs. Bee, maybe we'll stop after two!

The plan as it stands now is two. I used to think I wanted a whole house full (at least four) because I had three siblings and tons of cousins and I wanted that big family feel. But we've decided that we just can't live the lifestyle we hope to and support four kids. So two it is (assuming I don't go crazy with the first and end up one and done).

I've always said I wanted 3, where my husband has always talked about stopping after 2. Of course, I come from a family of 3 kids where he came from a family with 2 kids, so I think we both liked what we grew up with! For now I think we're saying that we'd like 2 with an option for a 3rd depending on how things go...

I grew up in a family of 4 girls. I would LOVE to have a household of kids, but I think we are going to have 2 kids. I guess it all depends on how pregnancy treats us. I know we won't have any more than 2 because Husband freaks out at the thought of the cost of more than 2 kids.

I'm an only child, and always swore to myself I'd have multiple kids so my own kids wouldn't be "lonely" as I was. But looking back, my life as a kid was good! And, I'm not getting any younger. So I think now, 1 is on the table (but 2 is more likely). I think Mr. N would be fine with 3 too, but I am not sure about that many.

No offense to anyone, but I'm not a fan of odd numbers of kids. It feels like someone would potentially left out - this is coming from a semi-only child's viewpoint 
(I have a half brother who is 15 years older than me). That being said, I would love to have 4 kids - again being pretty much an only, I want a big family and for my kids to have friends around them as children and when they're older and to have siblings to share responsibilities with when hubs and I are elderly.
But based on costs and our issues with infertility, having 2 is probably a more realistic option.
And yes, I'm already thinking timelines for baby # 2 since it took us 2 years to get baby #1

We're planning on having two, although I really want a girl so if I end up having two boys... although I don't want to turn out like my grandmother. She wanted a girl and ended up having SEVEN boys and only ONE girl! I'm definitely not doing that.
@stephbwill - I also am already thinking timelines for baby #2, and I don't even have baby #1!

I'd like to have 2. I'm not sure if we will get past one, though due to age/possible fertility issues/etc. We'll have to see how things go once we conceive and have #1 and then see if I can convince my husband that we should have more than 1.

my husband wants 3... and i'd be ok with that number if i wasn't so practical about finances, haha. i'm trying to convince him down to 2. he is ok with 2 IF our 2nd one ends up being a boy, but if it doesn't then he really wants to try for a 3rd. he loves our daughter, but he really wants a boy too.
