I would say probably just 2-3 days to get out the essentials, but probably 1-2 weeks to really plan out where to put everything else!

This most recent move was a temporary one, so we never unpacked most of our stuff. We're living with my mom, so she had all the things like dishes.

We're about to make our 5th move since we got married almost 5 years ago (6th if you count moving out to Denver, but he went first and I followed after we got married). Our usual time to unpack is around a week. Our best was 3 days. Those times include putting up pictures and all the little things. DH is just the type to get on those things immediately (when we go on a trip, he unpacks his suitcase as soon as we get back, even if it's 1am), and I go with it because I like having it done quickly.

This next move will probably take longer because I'm going to go through ALL of our stuff and get rid of a lot. But we'll get the stuff I don't need to go through unpacked quickly, I'm sure.

We moved into our new house in mid October. We were unpacked in a livable sense within 1 month. Substantially unpacked by Christmas, but we still have a few random boxes that aren't unpacked. Also, the basement stuff is pretty much all still boxed up. That's the very last bit that we'll get to...

I like to try to unpack right away! This last move, though, was a little different: there wasn't much to "unpack," per se, as we pretty much threw everything into the back of the car/random bags and boxes, then went from there, since it was so quick. I LOATHE moving that way, but it did force me to get things out of the way quickly!

Right now, we need to hang things on the walls. We've put some things in the storage unit downstairs, but we'll deal with them eventually...or maybe never, lol.

i like to get unpacked asap, it took me about 2-3 days. we still have 1 or 2 random boxes left around but not sure where to put them.

We had a moving company and they unpacked and took away all the boxes and paper, which was great. Putting everything away took 2-3 days, but we also had to wait for our new bookshelf in the living room before being able to get everything completely put away.

I won't lie. I have stuff in boxes in the basement from when we moved in 5+ years ago. LOL. Day 1 of moving in the kitchen was done though

@LovelyPlum: totally. We are moving again in a few months and we are going to pay people to pack, move and unpack again. With two LOs, we just don't have the time or patience to do it ourselves, and I have no idea where we would get boxes here. I guess I should add that the movers don't put things away, they just take everything out of the boxes.

We literally get unpacked in a day or two. We're experts at moving and i hate clutter and things not being in their place.

We moved in August and some of our stuff stillv isn't unpacked. I did have a baby in that time frame though....

I'm pretty good at getting most of our stuff unpacked right away. It's the little random things that probably really needs to be thrown out that sits around.

@bluestriped bee: If you ever move back here I'll come over and unpack/organize for you!

We moved in Nov. There are still a few boxes that haven't been unpacked.

We moved in the week before thanksgiving, it was tough over the holidays! But I would say I was 90% unpacked after 4 weeks - and still at 90% now with that last little bit in the basement.
