@PurplePumps: I don't think that was the "easy" my RE had in mind...

@PurplePumps: I had some spotting after the retrieval while I was still at the RE's office, but by the time I got home it was mostly gone. They told me before I left how many eggs they got (they whispered it, haha, maybe in case the girl next to me only got a couple?). I was in no condition to be up on the roof painting afterwards... it hurt to stand up straight and to lay on my side, so I was laying (elevated, I forget why) on my back watching TV with the heating pad for the rest of the day. Good luck tomorrow!

@Sunshine1810: How are you doing?
@PurplePumps: I forgot, I did have a tiny bit of spotting. And I was a little uncomfortable the day of the retrieval...but by the next day, things were good!

@FliegepilzHut: I'm doing pretty well. No major side effects which is great. I go in for blood work tomorrow so we will see how I am responding. I have my first ultrasound on Friday! I am starting to get a little bit impatient. I really hope I am responding better than I did in the beginning last cycle!

@FliegepilzHut: lol, darn.. maybe I'll relax and make DH go out and finish painting.
@Shutterbug: Oh wow, I will definitely have to play by ear then. thanks!

@Sunshine1810: I'm glad you're feeling well. I hope the meds are doing exactly what they ought to at this stage! Sending lots of luck and good vibes! FX for you!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: So sorry to hear about Baby B, that must've been such a difficult appointment. It sounds like you have a great way of looking at things, though. It's always better when we count our blessings rather than our pains. Hugs.
@Sunshine1810: Hope the meds are working nicely for you! Fx for some good progress on your Friday ultrasound!
@PurplePumps: No painting, only relaxing allowed! You may find yourself in a bit of pain, with some spotting and cramping. And you're probably still going to be under a bit of restriction as far as bending and exercising and things-- your belly might still be quite a bit swollen. Like the other women said, you should find out the number of eggs retrieved while you're in recovery, then they'll call you the next AM to let you know how many were mature and how many fertilized.

@FliegepilzHut: I'm good! I'm really at peace with the next step and starting to get excited again.
I'm still following along with everyone's IVF journeys but don't post here anymore since it's been so long since my fresh cycle. I've forgotten a lot of the details.

@Leialou: Any idea when your adoptive cycle may be? (I'm hoping for a FET around Thanksgiving.)

Hey @PurplePumps, I had 17 follicles aspirated on my ER day, only needed the pain tabs that eve and was 90% back to normal the next day. But I definitely wouldn't have been up to roof painting haha
I had a bit of spotting over the next 2 days and felt out of it /clouded mentally - another reason to stay off the roof!
Good luck!

PS: I was told to call in the next day at 9:30 for the details on how many eggs were retrieved, mature and fertilised

@FliegepilzHut: I'm hoping for January! I have my consultation appointment mid Nov. The clinic only does FETs every other month. I really don't want to wait until March.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: So sorry for the sad news, but well done for your strength on taking it so well! If anything, we come out the end of infertility as tough as nails! Love to you and your hubs.

News on my side following ET on Monday.
I've had some mild cramping since yesterday evening, a bit of light nausea, tender armpits (wtf?) and, from this afternoon, I cannot stop yawning! Had a great snooze on the couch though.
Hope you babies are up to something in there!

@Leialou: That sounds great! FX for smooth sailing from here on out!

We're back from the retrieval! The worse part of it for me so far was the IV, but once in the room I was knocked out pretty fast. The doctor said it took like no meds to knock me out and has practically never seen someone go out with so little lol. I got 16 eggs and just anxiously waiting to see how any fertilize next! DH asked me on the way home if I think I'm still up for painting!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@PurplePumps: haha what's the verdict, are you feeling up for painting? I guess with practically no sedation meds used you shouldn't be too loopy, at least
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@PurplePumps: Yay! Hooray for 16 eggs and almost no meds! I'm putting my foot down on this painting thing, though!

@PurplePumps: 16 is great!!! I wouldn't paint! Definitely relax today.
I just got a call from RE's nurse. I am on day 5 of stims and my estradiol level was at 360.75. I'm not sure where it's supposed to be at this point. I know it was higher than last cycle when I wasn't responding as well because my level on day 7 then was 259.75. For some reason they are not listing what it was on day 4 of IVF #1 in their system.
The one thing that concerns me is they switched my scan from this coming Friday morning to Saturday morning. I asked the nurse if I wasn't responding well and she said 'I think you're fine," which didn't sound too reassuring to me. They are keeping my meds at the same dose (last time they doubled them).
Hopefully things will be okay! I'm so nervous!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Sunshine1810: slow and steady wins the race! I think since they're keeping your dosage as is, that's a good sign.
persimmon / 1085 posts
@Sunshine1810: I agree! The fact that your dosage isn't changing is great news. And your number is better than last time, which is great! I'm so excited for you!!!!
@PurplePumps: Yay for a great retrieval! Can't wait to hear how many eggs fertilize!! I hope you rested afterwards. I laid in bed all day after mine.

@Shutterbug: Thank you! Sometimes I just need to be talked off the ledge...
@Jenn23: You're right, I'm not even really focusing on the fact that I am doing better than next time. I guess I need to just take a deep breath. Thank you!

@Sunshine1810: My Day#5 was 329 and we got 17 eggs. It sounds like you're doing great!

@Sunshine1810: You're welcome! I knew keeping records was going to come in handy for something... Keep up the good work and keep your spirits high!
grapefruit / 4703 posts
@Sunshine1810: ok I also have detailed notes, so here are a couple more comparisons for you. My first IVF cycle, after 5 days of stims my E2 was 249.8, then 495.3 two days later and I got 16 eggs. In my second IVF cycle, after 4 days of stims my E2 was 292.9, then 871.1 two days later and that time I got 19 eggs (I responded better the second time around).
pear / 1556 posts
@Shutterbug: Thanks for going back and checking for me! I really appreciate it! I definitely feel better!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@Sunshine1810: My day 5 E2 was 572 and she dropped my dosage from 225iu to 150iu cause it was going up too fast she said. Sounds like you're having a good response if your RE's holding your dosage steady and not wanting to increase it.

I just found out that I only had 4 of the 16 fertilize. That doesn't sound very good at all! :-\ She'd said before usually about half will fertilize, then another half will make it to xfer... so with that stat, I'll just hopefully have 2 to xfer and none to freeze. Pretty bummed now.
kiwi / 613 posts
@PurplePumps: I'm so sorry to hear that-- I know it's disappointing, after getting so many eggs at retrieval. If it makes you feel any better, I only had 5 fertilize last time, and ended up getting two great blastocysts to transfer, and got a BFP. (Ended up not continuing, but it shows you can get pregnant with a low number, right?) Hopefully you'll end up with a really great quality embryo to transfer. Are they thinking they'll do a Day 3 for you?
Did you do ICSI this time, or just conventional IVF?
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@momazon: I'm still hopeful that we'll at least have something to transfer, but bummed my chances aren't higher. We did conventional, DH was very again unnecessary ICSI cause it took away the 'natural selection' factor. They will decide based on how the embies look tomorrow if they'll have me do a day 3 or 5 transfer.
pear / 1556 posts
@PurplePumps: I'm so sorry!!! I am very hopeful that you will have two to transfer! FX for you!!!! I know it's disappointing not having any to freeze though (I didn't have any to freeze either). This process is so hard! It only takes one though!
grape / 78 posts
@PurplePumps: Ah ,so sorry chick Let's hold thumbs that those 4 are pearlers
pomegranate / 3809 posts
Did you guys take Valium for the transfer? They said it was completely optional, and I'm leaning toward not taking it, but didn't know if other doctors recommended it or not.
