They just called, they wanted to follow up on how I was feeling...so they gave me the fertilization report! 7 fertilized! I wish it was more, but I'll take it. Scheduled for a Day 5 transfer on Tuesday at 10:15. I hope I get a frosty or two, too!

@sarahnicole218: that's great! In both of my cycles I had only about 1/2 fertilize, so 7/9 is fantastic!

It's gonna be a big sushi dinner and bottle of wine for me tonight.

@sarahnicole218: 7 is brilliant.
@PurplePumps: Crap, chick. I'm so sorry. I HATE this for all of us.
As for me.... CD2 now. We're doing a HRT FET so I started progynova tablets today..... trying so hard to be hopeful but I'm feeling a bit defeated lately.

Thanks ladies. It actually didn't hit me as hard as the first time. I was expecting this outcome so a little more prepared. And I'm pretty sure I'm getting numb to the disappointment now. RE says they believes it to be a egg maturity and quality issue now and that was really apparent this cycle and likely the first cycle. But they couldn't tell last cycle since we didn't do icsi so they didn't see that the eggs were immature, but said that the abnormal fertilization could definitely have been a result of that. She said she's going to review the data with the other 3 doctors in the office, but just from what she's seeing, she thinks the next thing to do would be to stim longer so that the follies are more than 20mm, and to wait 38 instead of 36 hrs after HCG for retrieval. I talked to DH and he's on board to try again ASAP, aiming for a April retrieval again since DH will be away for the last week of March.

@PurplePumps: I'm so sorry... I'm glad you have a plan in place! Sending lots of hugs!
@jaguar: Sending tons of good vibes and sticky thoughts!
@sarahnicole218: What a crazy (read: awful) experience! Hope you feel better soon! 7 of 9 is great!!!

@PurplePumps: I did a 38 hour trigger/retrieval for my last two cycles and they went better than my first dud cycle. It can definitely help give eggs a bit longer to mature up, and hopefully affect fertilisation.
Still sending loads of hugs. x

@jaguar: DH was skeptical that 2 hours could make that much of a difference, so I'm relieved to hear that it can. Did it make a noticeable difference in egg quality or maturity for you? Or number of eggs?

@PurplePumps: I'm sorry Glad you guys have a plan and are ready to jump back into it.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@PurplePumps: Not number of eggs - but quality.
First cycle with regular trigger time, I had 5 retrieved, 3 fertilised & only 1 made it to day 3.
The next cycle, I had the longer trigger - had only 3 retrieved, but all 3 were mature, fertilised, and made it to day 5. x
Last cycle I can't really speak about yet (also a longer trigger) because those embryos are frozen at day 1, so I don't know how they'll grow out yet.
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@jaguar: Did they also grow the follicles larger than the typical 20mm before trigger?
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@PurplePumps: My lead was JUST over 20mm at last scan before pick up. The others weren't too far behind. So I'm assuming by retrieval, they'd grown a bit more. x
Okay... got my FET protocol. So I'm up to 2 progynova tablets a day from tomorrow, then 3 tablets a day from Sunday. Scan is next Thursday (CD14) and hopefully we'll get a transfer date from there!

ET is tomorrow morning. We drove to Iowa City tonight since there is supposed to be freezing rain tomorrow morning! Is winter over yet?!
I have been dealing with some yucky complicatuons since ER and the nicked blood vessel. I had a fever yesterday and all-over body aches. They feared infection, but I didn't have all of the symptoms. My fever eventually broke with tylonel and rest, the doc seems to think my body was just reacting to old blood in my abdominal cavity.
So we're still planning on transfer tomorrow, but they will evaluate my symptoms and do a quick ultrasound first just to make sure we have the all clear. I am praying for a good embryo report tomorrow and that we have some frosties. And of course, I hope for a smooth transfer...I'm done with these silly complications!

@jaguar: FX for a good uterine lining check!
@sarahnicole218: Hope you feel better and everything looks good on your ultrasound! Your ET should be a piece of cake after all this! Thinking of you!

@jaguar: Hope everything goes well for a transfer date!
@sarahnicole218: FX for a smooth transfer today! Post some blasty pics!

#2 was transferred! #3 is being frozen today, and there are a few other "good" and "fair" embies they are going to culture out one more day to see if we get any more frosties. Transfer went smooth! Just driving home and then heading to acupuncture in a couple hours!

@sarahnicole218: hooray! I think #4 shows good promise for freezing

Thank you everyone for the well wishes!!
I just got some wonderful news that our clinic was able to freeze 4 total embryos!! How amazing...we feel really blessed right now. We started with 9 harvested eggs and we got 5 viable embies from them, I'm really just over the moon.

@sarahnicole218: So happy to hear that you had 4 make it to freeze! That is wonderful! How are you doing?
@jaguar: How are things going with you?
No real updates here. Getting my medication today after my clinic nurse had me in tears earlier this week over a potential Lupron shortage. I decided to do 5 sessions of fertility yoga leading up to my transfer in April. No acupuncture this time. Just working on adding in exercise a few days a week - I've been a blob this winter due to all the snow. We have a trip to FL a month before transfer so that will be a great time to relax. I'm really looking forward to it!!

@GreenThumb: I am doing OK. I want to be super positive and optimistic, but I also do not want to be crushed if this isn't it for us. So it's hard to find the balance of how to feel during this agonizing wait. I feel a bit crampy today, but a million things could be contributing to that, so I'm TRYING to distract myself. I am a substitute teacher though and the classes I have to day are ridiculously easy, so of course, I'm googling everything under the sun. Lol. *hangs head in shame*
