Our IVF is on hold a few more weeks, I need to get tested for a possible adrenal problem.. frigging hormones. Brilliant.

@momazon: Just wanted to chime in-- I'm very excited for your upcoming cycle!
@jaguar: Yuck. Hopefully your testing comes back alright and you can proceed as soon as you're ready!

@momazon: @bloved: @Miss Sarah: @tequiero21: thank you!! We have our first beta on Tuesday

@Miss Sarah: @FliegepilzHut: Thanks! Hopefully I will cross over onto the "success story" side with one of my cycles this year!
@raintreebee: Hope you're keeping distracted! Are you going to test this week, or wait for your beta?
@jaguar: Ugh, more testing! Is this something infertility-related, or just general health? I hope they can get it done quickly for you. Did you say you're doing a consult with another clinic for a potential new cycle?
persimmon / 1114 posts
@jaguar: sorry for the delay...I hate how much time in infertility is spent just waiting to try.
So I met with my clinic for a consult yesterday and it looks like we can go ahead for a June cycle. This is a new dr (my old one moved out of state) and he is changing my protocol. He feels part of the reason none of my frosties worked was bc of poor quality bc of the pcos. So now instead of follistim or gonal-f we are just going to use menapur. He said for people with pcos this usually produces less eggs, but better quality ones. Any pcos bees follow a similar protocol? Of course hearing the word "less" has me worried...
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@bloved: Less can definitely be better in terms of quality. My best cycle was when I only had 4 follies/3 eggs retrieved. My worst was the one with the most.
@momazon: Endocrinology and fertility - too many male androgens (testosterone) and free floating progesterone in my system, so they need to rule out whether it's PCOS causing that, or whether it's an actual adrenal gland disorder, so blah. I am so furious. We have just had hit after hit after hit - why can't we get out of this bad luck streak?
I seriously feel like we're cursed to watch everyone else move on, while we sit here.
kiwi / 613 posts
@bloved: I have pcos and was on both Bravelle and Menopur for all my cycles. I'm glad you can move forward in June! Do you have an approximate calendar yet? How many eggs did you get last time? I definitely know more does not equal better for all of us- for my cycle with the most eggs retrieved, I had the worst fertilization rate.
persimmon / 1114 posts
@jaguar: @momazon: Thanks ladies. Logically I know less can be more, but it definitely helps to hear. With my first IVF, they retrieved 17, 8 fertilized, two were transferred on day 3 (one of which resulted in my son) and 3 were frozen (two transfers: one negative cycle and one blighted ovum).
@momazon: We are tentatively scheduled for retrieval / transfer the week of June 8. I am a little nervous because we are going on vacation pretty much the day after my first beta, but I really want to squeeze this cycle in because I am so sick of waiting.

Popping in... Hope you guys don't mind, but I wanted to tell each one of you Happy Mother's Day!! I'm hoping you all get your miracle baby in your arms by this time next year!! Thinking of you all!! Hugs!

Well I didn't get out of this scott free - heading to the Dr in the AM for a scan. Nurse said not to eat or drink and plan on pontential hospitalization for delayed OHSS.... Joy! I have super bloat and diarrhea for the last two days straight.... Ironically no weight gain which is the first tall tale symptom apparently

@momazon: I will definitely test before beta. I've tried it both ways, and I do not like being at the mercy of the clinic's timeline on beta day! Trying to talk myself into waiting until Wed. Fingers crossed for you!
@bloved: Really hoping your new protocol is the winner!
@bluestriped bee: Thank you, "old" friend!
@MrsYellowJacket: Oh man. I hope you can get this resolved quickly!

Update: couldn't resist and just got super duper squinter at 5dp5dt. Agh. It is on a wondfo and I totally don't trust those. Will try again in the morning!
kiwi / 613 posts
@raintreebee: I was JUST about to write a reply to you saying I didn't know how you were going to hold out till Wednesday! I always try but have failed on most cycles to hold off :). Hey, a squinter is a squinter! That's a good sign!!!!
kiwi / 613 posts
@MrsYellowJacket: UGH! I hear OHSS is the worst! Are you in quite a bit of pain already? Hopefully it will be minimal and not give you too much trouble. Good luck!!

@bluestriped bee: Thank you!! Hope you had a lovely Mother's Day as well! OH, and I used WinFertility as you recommended for my donor cycle meds and saved like a third off! Thx!

@momazon: Glad you had a great mother's day and I'm so glad you saved money using WinFertility!

@raintreebee: Nice!! Did you test again this morning?
@raintreebee: @momazon: @FliegepilzHut: Thanks !
It wasn't "as" bad as they thought - we did a tap there and they drained 1.5L!! I instantly felt relief after. I'm glad they were able to do that this morning.
Also this morning was my first beta at 9dp5dt - 423!!!!! We're over the moon !!!!
pear / 1531 posts
@MrsYellowJacket: holy moly that is one amazing beta!! Pretty sure you've got two in there!! So happy for you. And so glad you feel better. I've been testing all day, and it keeps getting darker!

@MrsYellowJacket: Yay! And goodness, that's a nice, high beta!!!

@bloved: @FliegepilzHut: thank you!! Second beta is tomorrow morning
@raintreebee: that's great news!!! Congrats!

@FliegepilzHut: It was originally scheduled for Friday (that would be 9dp5dt, but I may go in tomorrow. I called yesterday because I had some spotting. The nurse reprimanded me for testing early, saying it could still be the trigger. I was like, look lady, this isn't my first rodeo. I tested out the trigger, and the lines are now getting darker. Anyway, she pissed me off, lol, but she said I should wait until at least tomorrow for my first beta for some reason or another.

Ugh frustrating fertility day on my end. I had my routine sonohysterogram scheduled this morning. Dr. feels I have a septum and that I need to have surgery before doing ivf again. Doubly frustrated because not even sure I really do have a septum. I had my first fertility dr say I did (and do surgery to supposedly remove it) in 2009. Then, my second dr (who got me pregnant with my son) said that he was wrong and it was a heart shaped uterus. Now, with this third dr it is back to being a septum (and why, if I had surgery, is it still there anyway?!!). So anyhow, I am frustrated because I don't know if it is a septum or not, I am nervous about having potentially unnecessary surgery, and mad that this can delay things even more. I just feel like every-single-time there is some new obstacle getting in the way. I guess no real advice needed- just needed to vent...
kiwi / 613 posts
@bloved: I'm so sorry about your frustrating day! So what are the next steps? More scans or tests? I don't have any experience with septum or surgeries, but I can definitely commiserate on the suckiness of unexpected waits!
