I just got off the phone with CVS Caremark who said that if they delivered it and it was sealed and packaging was ok, then they are not responsible and to call the manufacturer. So I tried Serono, got directed to their quality department who took all my info and said they would send immediately send a replacement to CVS who will send it to me (since they cannot directly dispense medication). *phew* Still hope I wont get to needing it, but at least I didn't just flush a whole pen down the drain if I do.

@PurplePumps: That is great news! Good for you for following up on it. And it is good to know that the manufacturer is being responsive to the problem. We all know we don't need any more headaches and stress when dealing with IF.

Hi ladies, I think I'm going to be hanging around a bit more, so wanted to explain before I just start posting! (For those who don't know me, I did IVF w/PGD in Dec/Jan 2014. I have a 9 month old son as a result).
I'd like to ease back into the mindset of IVF so I thought I'd hang around and cheer for everyone and remind myself what the protocol, emotions, etc are like. It's like I remember it, but I don't Obviously it's not something I'm looking forward to, but the reality is that i should probably consider it soon, at least some retrievals.
I made an appt with my RE in July to get his take on it. I'd still like to wait another 9 months to actually be pregnant again (or I should say attempt a transfer, because who knows) so I figured I could maybe do a few retrievals between now and then to increase my odds of having a good embryo for when I am ready.
I feel crazy for doing all of this because I'm just settling into being a mom to 1 LO. But worried about waiting too long to get the ball rolling.
Anyhow, looking forward to getting to know those I don't know better and reuniting with some familiar "faces"

@PurplePumps: Just checking in. I just read what your SIL said. OMG! I would be so pissed. I'm so sorry she felt the need to say that.
@momazon: Ahh, congrats!! So happy for you!!
@SweetiePie: Just lurking the IVF threads. So happy to see you back.

@winter_wonder: How's it going donor stimming along?
I had about 9 eggs around 14mm Friday and a few more lagging behind. Not as many as I hoped. Another check tomorrow morning to see when I'll trigger.

@PurplePumps: hey! We don't receive any updates until next Saturday unless something really terrible happens.
Wishing you all the best!

I've been m.i.a for a bit because this cycle has gone crazy (wonky tests for me and an unrelated emergency surgery for husband). We had the retrieval today and they got 14 eggs. No word until tomorrow how many are mature/ fertilize. Am worried bc with all of husband's issues afraid we might have some male factor problems which has never been an issue - but I guess no point in stressing until I get the news. We are freezing everything bc my antibody screen keeps coming back positive, although they think most likely left over from the rhogam shot 3 months ago. So back to waiting!

@bloved: 14 is great! Did you get word back on the fert report?
Looks like I'll be triggering tonight for reverential on Wed. I had 2 or 3 right around 20mm today already and a bunch more 17-20. It's getting real again.... and couldn't come any sooner. My stomach is SO sore from the clusters of shots!

@PurplePumps: good luck with the rerieval! Sounds like you might have lots to pick from!
We got the fertilization report- 9 fertilized. Hopefully they can continue to grow. Goal is to freeze on Friday, although any questionable ones will freeze sooner.

@bloved: 9 fertilized is great! Keep us posted, and good luck!!!!
@PurplePumps: Fingers crossed for a smooth retrieval on Wednesday!!!!! Can't wait to hear how it goes!
Had my first beta from this cycle this morning, and it came back as 315 at 18dpo. That's a bit lower than our previous pregnancies, but none of those worked out so maybe that's a good thing. We will repeat on Wednesday and Friday so hopefully we will see doubling!

GRR! I missed the call from my doctor, but I got the instructions. With the Novarel, I typically did 1cc solution into the powder and drew all of it back to inject. . This time they said to do 2cc solution into the powder and draw only 1cc back to inject. Why would they do less? That's essentially half the full dosage that I did the first two times right? If they thought maturity was the issue, wouldn't they want more of the trigger for final maturation? I tried to call back to ask, but they were closed already. I'll follow instructions, but I'm dying to know why they would half the trigger this time!
persimmon / 1114 posts
@momazon: 315 still sounds good...and the most important thing is the doubling! Fx for you! @PurplePumps: no idea about the different trigger dose. Maybe because you have so many large ones already?

@PurplePumps: Is there any emergency line you can call to triple-check? I know my clinic has an after-hours line where they page the on-call nurse to call you back. As long as they were very clear in their instructions on the phone, I'd do what they said, but might help ease your concerns by calling.

OMG, This time I may really have F''ed things up. I just checked my Novarel and the vial that is supposed to be powdery is completely SOLID!!!! I'm supposed to trigger in 30 minutes, waiting for the on call doctor to call me back. (@#$#(*$@#(*$@#(*@#$
Update: oh my goodness. Ok, freak out over. Doctor said it was fine just as I was mixing 5 minutes before I was instructed to take it, and it still dissolved the same and completely when mixed. Shots done. Roughest 30 minutes ever.

@PurplePumps: Whew, I got anxious just reading your post! Glad the crisis is averted!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@PurplePumps: I was going to post that some of my Novarel powder was solid and it was fine, as long as it all dissolves.
This is all so stressful, I was a mess during the stim cycle, I called the doc and the pharmacy that provided my meds countless times, watched YouTube of the shots on repeat, etc. My husband made me feel better by saying "think about it, if this could be royally f'ed up they wouldn't let non-medical professionals do it".
But so hard to not stress!

@bloved: great fert report! Sorry that I'm behind since just rejoining, but are you doing 3 or 5 day transfer?
persimmon / 1114 posts
@SweetiePie: neither unfortunately. Due to some complications we are freezing everything (hopefully at day 5) and doing a transfer next cycle.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@bloved: Ok gotcha. I will never be able to do a fresh cycle either. We may have different reasons, but I feel your pain of just wanting to do it NOW and not being able to. Just another delay to the end goal, it sucks!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@momazon: I checked online, and it said 5000 also, so I'm sure that is the instructions, I just dont understand why. From googling, it seems that a lot of people have their HCG lowered to half dose to reduce the risk of OHSS. But my E2 was only 2600 with about 15 or so follicles 16-22, so it doesnt seem very risky. Ah well, they must know what they are doing right? :-\ So hard to just let go and trust for me.
@SweetiePie: Thanks, it's a relief to hear that its not uncommon. From my frantic searches yesterday, all I could find was that it was a powder. I was a more freaked cause when my box of meds came, my husband stuck it ALL in the fridge, including the Novarel with it says to keep at room temp. Then when we were on vacation, it got really hot so I'm sure it went way above "room temp" so I thought I could have messed it up too.. Ugh, between the gonal almost freezing and this, if I need anymore meds I'm not having them ship it until like 2-3 days before I need it! I can't trust myself to store it anymore!
Shot free day! Retrieval for noon tomorrow. 38 hrs post trigger this time... Then I already got a groupon for a local Taiwanese restaurant to get some take out and go home and veg since hubby wants to go back to work after he drops me off at home.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@PurplePumps: enjoy your shot free day! Will you have to do PIO injections right away? I've never done a fresh cycle so I'm not sure how that works. Just curious!
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@SweetiePie: I do the icky tablet suppositories. Yup, they'll start tomorrow right away. I dunno if I'd prefer more shots or the leaking from the tablets...
honeydew / 7463 posts
@PurplePumps: ugh! They made me do BOTH until I was 7 weeks pregnant then just PIO. It was awful but I think I prefer the suppositories over the PIO shots for an extended time. PIO are the worst of the shots and lasted forever. 1.5 years later and I still have nerve damage from them (the oil in the PIO compressed nerves in both legs so it was numb then burning and now it's just tender. But it's taken forever!)
pomegranate / 3809 posts
@SweetiePie: Oh my goodness! I had no idea those shots could do that. i figured it was just like the lupron or gonal type shots and I think I'd prefer those to the leaking. But from what you describe, I'll take the suppositories over PIO! I think my RE says that they test progesterone if theres a positive beta, and if it looks good, the suppositories can stop.
