Hello, I wanted to sneak in here and say hi as I think that we might be onto IVF next month. We will be doing our likely last IUI this month and I had a question for you ladies. Once you decided to do IVF, how long was it before you actually started? I am just wondering if my July IUI cycle is a bust, should I expect an IVF cycle in August or September. I also realize it depends on doctors and protocol. thanks

@NorthStar: Hi! Welcome! I think it took about 4 months from first consult to retrieval. And that was with my office being several hours away (a lot of my monitoring took place locally). Wishing you the best of luck with your IUI cycle and going forward!

@NorthStar: I had my last iui in October and first round of ivf in December. Good luck!

I had my transfer this morning! It went well. We have 1 in the freezer. I'll call tomorrow to see if any others can be frozen!
My pregnancy test is scheduled for July 10th

@winter_wonder: Congratulations on a smooth transfer! And one in the freezer already, nice!! Wishing you lots of patience over the next week! Are you planning to hold out till your beta or test before then?

@FliegepilzHut: I think it took me 2 - 3 months from consult to transfer. Hope this last iui is the ticket for you though!
@winter_wonder: congrats on good transfer and having at least one frozen!

@FliegepilzHut @momazon @bloved: thanks ladies!
@momazon:I doubt I will be able to wait for my beta! I was thinking about testing on the 8th, but I'm terrified. What day did you start testing?

@momazon: I'm catching up - congratulations!!! That's very exciting!

@winter_wonder: I tested 5dp5dt! But it was SO faint. Much darker (dark enough that my husband could finally see) on 7dp5dt. GOOD LUCK, my friend!!!!!!
@MrsYellowJacket: Thank you!!!
@NorthStar: Welcome! I think it's about two months generally. You have to do 21-ish days of BCPs usually to start, then the stims and retrieval/transfer the month after that. Going from IVF cycle to IVF cycle, my transfers were normally about two months apart (if I got a BFN).

Hi Everyone. I was active on the first IVF board about 2 years ago when I was going through IVF the first time. We got lucky and our first cycle resulted in our beautiful 1 year old daughter. We are now ready for #2 and are getting ready for a FET with one of our two frozen embryos.
@NorthStar: We made the decision to do IVF in June. I started on Birth Control in July and we had the egg retrieval in August. Our RE only does frozen transfers so our transfer wasn't until October. This time frame really varies depending on the RE and their typical procedure.
@momazon: Congratulations!
@winter_wonder: I waited until my beta - I was so scared of seeing the BFN that I waited. I really hope that you get that BFP!!!! Good luck!!!

@momazon: wow! I might pick up some tests today just to have on hand. I only have the cheapies right now. Thanks for your kind wishes!
@justdarling: good luck on your upcoming fet!

Hi all, popping in as a potential IVF newbie. If this last IUI cycle doesn't work out (#3), next cycle i'll take estrogen in the luteal phase then the cycle after that is stims, retrieval and transfer (August).
My RE mentioned in our consult yesterday that my AMH is low (.03) and FSH is 10 (which she said is normal but I'm reading it's borderline). I responded fine to Clomid for my IUI cycles, but she's giving me an aggressive IVF protocol with 375 of Gonal F and 75 of Menopur. Anyone else in the same boat with a low AMH? I'm trying not to freak out.
pomegranate / 3533 posts
@YogiRunner: No experience with low AMH but they'll monitor you very closely with your stims! Wishing you lots of luck with your IUI and going forward!

@winter_wonder: So many more chances... Or a sibling if this one works out!!!
persimmon / 1479 posts
@momazon: yes!!!! I was definitely worried we wouldn't have that many to freeze. I reaaaaallllly hope this one works out and then a sibling!!
kiwi / 613 posts
@winter_wonder: Maybe three siblings?? LOL I tease my husband about that all the time. He says let's just try to get lucky and finally have the first one first!
persimmon / 1479 posts
@momazon: Haha! Sounds like my husband! Today I was like "maybe we can have 3 or even 4 kids!!" He just laughed and said we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves!!

@winter_wonder: That's amazing! Congrats on a nice stash of frosties
So totally unexpected - some of you may remember that my RE still had all 7 of my "bad" embryos frozen which was a surprise to us a few weeks ago when we found out.
Well I asked them to send me the paperwork to destroy them since they aren't viable. Tuesday my doc calls me (which he rarely does) and says "we actually show than one of the embryos tested came back as inconclusive. So it could be another abnormal or it could be viable. Under a microscope it looks like good quality". Now, FYI, good quality in appearance means nothing to me since all of mine looked good but were still abnormal. But it still makes me wonder "what if".
So now we are deciding if we should spend the $3,600 to:
- thaw
- re biopsy
- re freeze
- re test (PGD)
I didn't even know that thawing and re freezing was an option! Then thawing again for transfer! It just seems so nuts to freeze and thaw an embryo that many times but he said it happens, but of course there is risk.
So we could spend the $3600 and find out its abnormal.
Spend the $3600 and find out its good but have it not survive thaw, re biopsy, refreeze or rethaw again. Or just not take this time.
Or spend $3600 and everything goes ok and it turns out we have a frosty and get pregnant again in the next year without retrieval etc again.
I don't know what to do! It's a lot of money to waste but it's also way less than a whole new round if it pans out.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@justdarling: hi and welcome back! We must have gone through IVF around the same time the first time. I have a 10 month old from our first and only round. Good luck on #2!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@NorthStar: hi! I didn't do IUI, straight from natural to IVF. But from our decision to do IVF in Sept 2013 it took until late November to start stims, early December for retrieval. I also has to freeze and do PGD so that added a month, so our transfer wasn't until early Jan.
so, from consultation to the first shot/med it was about 2 months. Seems to be the average looking at other responses too.
Good luck!

@SweetiePie: wow, that's a lot of info to take in and process. Good luck on making this extremely difficult decision. I hate all the uncertainty that comes with IF

Holy Crap! I don't think the wondfos show up in this pic, but the first response one is more visible!!!
persimmon / 1114 posts
@SweetiePie: oh wow, what a curveball and a tough decision. I did not know you could thaw and re freeze either. What is your gut leaning towards?
