@JoyfulKiwi: my favorite part of those updates (I can't remember which site this was from) is that the babies have started peeing. Inside us!

It's so freaky to me that now they are pretty much tiny perfect humans INside us!

@MaryM: yeah, I've been a little bit congested this time around. I was the entire time with my last pregnancy. It's not so bad for me though and I found that Claritin works if I really need some relief.

@mrs.shinerbock: I have really bad allergies to begin with, so I already take zytec daily. Ugh.

today's going to be miserable! I was so tired all week from not being able to sleep because my head hurt and I couldn't breath. Last night I could breath, but couldn't sleep because of the sudafed!

Our new giant bed is coming today (we're upgrading to a king). DH was also tossing and turning last night, which I'm sure didn't help me. Hopefully tonight we'll both sleep awesomely!

@cvwood: thank you so much! They weren't that excited to be involved in the photoshoot, but eventually they stood still for 5 seconds to take a picture

So, I got my test results back from my 12 week appointment and everything looks good. But silly me, I had assumed they would check my progesterone level since I've been on supplements. I was hoping to know what my level was before I quit taking them.

Nope. Three vials of blood and no P level.

Except that the levels from May were still on my test results chart (I can see online) so they totally freaked me out until I noticed the date on them!

Guess I'm staying on progesterone for four more weeks. Thankfully I'm seeing a different doctor then (though I do love the one I've been seeing) and she's been really proactive with me regarding P. I'm hoping she'll be more willing to check it if I ask her.

    Holy crap.

I just calculated that if my child goes to college when they're 18 (if college still exists then like it does now), he/she will be part of the class of 2038. That doesn't even look like a real year!

I am feeling so ridiculously huge this pregnancy. Last pregnancy, I felt so maternal and sexy. Now I just feel like a huge whale. My belly seems SO BIG for 10 weeks! I know you get bigger faster with 2nd pregnancies, but my gosh. I think my 10w bump is comparable to my 14 or 15 week bump from last time! Coupled with the nausea, migraines, and exhaustion, I'm SO over this 1st trimester!!!

    apricot / 369 posts

@MaryM: I just wanted to let you know that my RE did not check my progesterone levels - I was just told to stop at 10 weeks. I ended up continuing an extra week (with my drs approval I tapered off the meds since I was so nervous). I'm not sure what you're specific situation is, but I know the vaginal suppositories don't necessarily raise blood levels (since they are delivered locally) and levels will of course be high on injections. I would call your doctor for some clarification - hopefully they can help sooner

Haha 2038 does sound pretty strange!

@lauren0817: The doctor I'm seeing next time had a NaPro fellowship, and the doctors in that group pay a lot more attention to the role of progesterone throughout pregnancy (and not just at the beginning). For that reason I'm hoping she'll be more open to at least testing one last time.

I'm in a IF support group that has a lot of women using NaPro, and most of them are monitored every two weeks throughout pregnancy.

@MaryM: oh that makes sense! My situation was very different (I was on progesterone/estrogen after a frozen embryo transfer), so its interesting to hear about your experiences. Hope your next appt will be helpful

Hi Mamas! I've been lurking for weeks like a creeper but hesitated saying anything - it still feels too good to be true! But I'm going crazy not being able to talk about it to "everyone" and seeing so many Facebook friends post proud bump pics, so I'm jumping in!

    Location: Chicago!

    EDD: 1-10-16

How far along: 13 weeks 5 days

    First child? Yes!

First doctor appointment: May 3 (right after we found out, they were shocked I got in so early lol)

Any symptoms so far? None really first trimester, but as soon as I hit 13 weeks really really bad low back pain, searing headaches and food aversions.

Who have you told? Most family, close friends, bosses. Sharing with work & Facebook after our next appointment in two weeks

@Mrs.Grapefruit: congratulations and welcome! I'm surprised your food aversions started in the second trimester. Usually it's in the first, but I hope it goes away soon!

    @Mrs.Grapefruit: congratulations and welcome!

@travellingbee: same here - I feel huge, but still like I'm in that could be pregnant but could be just be fat stage. It doesn't help that I am overweight to begin with either.

When is everyone finding out gender, if you are? I find out on August 25th (I'm due January 13th!) and I'm so excited. I am dead set on it being a boy.. if I had to put money down on either gender as my guess I would say boy even though all the OWT point to girl primarily

I'm super excited too.. I just switched from my OB practice to a midwife and I feel really good about the decision. And they have late hours which is a plus! When I would call my last practice for an "appointment as late as possible" that would mean 4pm... which meant leaving work early at 3pm. Now I just scheduled my 17 week check up and when I said "as late as possible" they gave me 7:15pm which is nice! and it's 10 minutes from my house.

Does anyone else feel like pregnancy is going slow so far? I'm 14 weeks this coming Wednesday and I don't understand the whole "It flies by thing" ... yet! I finally got my appetite back as of last week too.

  19. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

    @Mrs.Grapefruit: Welcome!

@mrs.shinerbock: I feel the same (on could be fat, could be pregnant). I'm actually still down 1.5 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight (I think just from food aversions and a small appetite), but I'm closing my pants with a hair tie if I'm not wearing the next size up. I think most people probably just think I've put on weight (which I actually haven't!)

@kristinleigh: I should find out gender Sept. 2, as long as my doctor sticks with the four week schedule we're on now. though I'll technically be 21 weeks they so I might ask if we can push back a week.

I don't really have a feeling either way, but probably because I fear gender disappointment.

@kristinleigh: I wish we had a date to find out the sex. I have a my 3rd appointment next week, where I will meet with the the OB, about what I am not really sure, and I think from there we set up the ultrasound. My last appointment was at 10 weeks, so I am super eager to make sure everything is going well.

I still couldnt care less what the sex is, I would absolutely love to have another little boy, but a girl would be awesome too. Since my little ones will be sharing a room for a few years, I want to find out if I will have to re-decorate the nursery, even though it is navy, gray and yellow, it still seems very "boy" to me.

@kristinleigh: Ummm...yeah. This pregnancy is CRAWLING by.

At 14 weeks 4 days the doctor already said it looked like a boy! We will find out for sure next Saturday. Although that hasn't stopped me from shopping already (whoops!)

That must be so hard to have to wait for so long just to get an ultrasound though. I love to see baby know how long he is, see the heart beating and such. Also my toddler girl got to see the last one and I think it makes the fact that there's a baby in mommy so much more real to her. A nice step towards preparing her for big sisterhood.

It is probably excessive and maybe not that good for you but In Korea and Japan ultrasounds are available at almost every appointment, and aren't expensive (around $50) for a standard ultrasound. Of course anatomy scans are different.

The first trimester crawled by at a snail's pace but now that the nausea is gone the golden second trimester is going by much faster. I guess it depends, I don't mind a long second trimester, I'm not in a big hurry to take care of a newborn and all the sleep deprivation yet!

I have an ultrasound next Monday & I'll be 15w3ds. I'm scared to ask for gender (can they even tell that early?) cuz they'll probably laugh at me and think I'm a crazy nut.

  24. gracecat

    clementine / 878 posts

@sera_87: why not? With DD1 I found out at 16 weeks. Lots of moms I know find out around 16 weeks too.

We are finding out gender august 5, a day before my bday, at 16 wks

I have my NT scan on thursday, still a bit nervous since I haven't seen the LO since June 29 but hey, it's the 2nd trimester, I have to chill out at some point, right..? If all is well we will be announcing on social media that day, right after the appt. I can't wait!

I know it's too early as a FTM (13 wks) but I swear I am feeling some weird things in the pelvic region.... many sensations and twinges! Like a little someone is stretching or feebly kicking me in the cervix/pelvis

  26. sera_87

    pomegranate / 3604 posts

@gracecat: I think it's cuz it's at high risk at the hospital and I'm intimidated lol.

Plus they're super picky about the tech telling you anything. Thankfully I have a doc appointment with them right after so maybe I'll ask then?

  27. gracecat

    clementine / 878 posts

    @sera_87: Ah I see...

I would make sure and ask the ultrasound tech if the doctor doesn't do his/her own ultrasound on you, because sometimes they have to specifically look between the legs. If the ultrasound techie didn't do that and all the doc looks at is the video/images afterwards, the doc may not be able to tell you anything! If you REALLY want to know, that is!

  28. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@sera_87: My sonographer said they can "tell for certain" at 16 weeks. Maybe they'll tell you what they think it is even if they aren't 100% sure? I'd weigh the risk of that though (would you get really tied to what they say?)

My symptoms are going away, so I have a feeling I'm going to be a complete mess for the next 3 weeks until my next appointment.

  29. lauren0817

    apricot / 369 posts

@kristinleigh: we did the Harmony test so we already know the gender, but I'm definitely waiting for ultrasound confirmation before shopping too much. Our anatomy scan is at 20 weeks exactly - August 19th!

And I hear you on the time crawling part - it feels like the days/weeks are going by so slowly, but then when I think back to when we first found out I was pregnant (may 1) that feels sooo long ago!

  30. lauren0817

    apricot / 369 posts

@MaryM: I hear you about missing those symptoms! I still have symptoms but they are just different and not as regular. Plus I'm starting to have some aches and soreness and that freaks me out because it all new and strange. It's 3 weeks until my next visit as well so we can have a countdown going together

  31. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@lauren0817: Before my last appointment I'd had some dark spotting (not a lot, but enough for me to mention it!). The nurse asked if I had any cramping and I honestly said "Define cramping. I'm awfully sore down there, but I don't know if I'd call it cramping?" lol

I have had an increase in round ligament pain, but that's so unpredictable (and scary as shit when it hits!) that I don't really count it as a symptom. For the most part I feel normal today. Whoever thought I'd be worried about feeling normal??

I still have terrible all day nausea and now I have a sinus infection. A perfect storm of crap. I wish I could take something and sleep for days...

  33. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@travellingbee: I feel you on the sinus stuff. I had AWFUL pain for about a week.

I think what finally helped was Nasalcrom. I'd never heard of it (it's a nose spray), but DH found it and it's category B and non-steroid. I was about to give in and try flonase (which is category C) but I'm glad DH found this to try first.

@MaryM: yeah, I think I need to go in. I have a fever and can't breathe. sorry you are sinusy too.

  35. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@travellingbee: Ugh. I didn't get a fever, thank goodness, but have horrible sinuses and was SO MAD I couldn't take my standard advil cold & sinus.

I hope you're able to breath soon!

  36. lauren0817

    apricot / 369 posts

@MaryM: haha - yeah I hear you! I did something similar at my last visit when they asked if I was having any abdominal pain - I was like well that really depends on what you mean by pain I think I am just overthinking everything! What does your round ligament pain feel like? I had some sharper pains weeks ago, but now I just really feel very sore and kinda stretched all over (basically from inner thighs up to my boobs!). I have no idea what's normal and what's not, but I am trying to operate under the assumption that if something is really wrong then I will know

  37. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@lauren0817: from my understanding, RLP is mostly the super sharp quick pains that sort of take your breath away that happen when you stand up or bend too quickly (or sometimes roll over or do other strange movements). But I've read it can also cause a dull ache if you're more active.

  38. lauren0817

Is anyone thinking about using a doula (or has used one before)? I am a super nervous first time mom, so I thought it might be nice to have some extra support. I really don't know enough about labor/delivery yet (I am putting that in the "to think about later" basket for now) to know if I want a natural birth yet, but it seems like even with medications or an epidural it might be nice to have someone there.

  39. lauren0817

    apricot / 369 posts

@MaryM: Interesting! I don't think I've really had the super sharp ones yet (now that I've said that it's probably going to happen today!). I've had the crazy vaginal twinges and those kinda freak me out. Our bodies are doing so many crazy things!

  40. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@lauren0817: I've had those too. Overall it's very alien feeling.
