@Marfi: So excited for your IUI! There's been a good string of first IUI BFP's I think...

Ahh! We've been on vacation and I wasn't doing OPK's because it was pretty early in my cycle, I did one tonight though and of course got a smile-y - we haven't BD at all in the past week (shared a hotel room with our kids all week!) - what would your strategy be? Every day for the next 3 days?
clementine / 874 posts
@HappyBaker: Get down to it, lady! FWIW, we BD the day AFTER a smile face and ended up with DS. I think today and the next two days would cover your bases!

@HappyBaker: I agree with @Coral: & @Mrs. Oreo: Get down to it!

@Coral: @Mrs. Oreo: @HeartAbandoned: Haha thanks guys. I got another smiley this morning so hoping I caught it last night at the very beginning!

I'm feeling nervous heading into my first "fertile period" of trying for baby #2. I have PCOS and didn't ovulate on my own when we conceived DS - I used 2 rounds of Clomid to help out. When I saw my OB earlier in the month she said to give it 6 months before we try Clomid again, but if the last 2 weeks are any indication, it will be a long 6-month wait for that appointment if I don't get pregnant on my own! Praying for at least darkening OPKs over the next day or two...I "should" ovulate on Wed/Thursday, but my OPKs have been getting lighter over the last day or so...I'm remembering all the ups & downs of doing this the first time around!

@HeartAbandoned: Good luck! It's crazy how quickly the waiting becomes annoying, hoping your OPK's get darker soon!

We had our first "scheduled" bd last night. Then I had a dream I was delivering twins. I'd like to get pregnant but maybe not THAT pregnant

@bhbee: HA! DH says his biggest fear is multiples this time around.

Not sure if we had good timing. My positive OPK was Saturday at 6am. We didn't BD until 8pm yesterday. Before that, our last BD was last Wednesday. I was pissed at DH over something so... bleh.

@bhbee: @HeartAbandoned: Haha same, I feel like I know a lot of people who's #3 turned into #3 and #4 and I am a little terrified of that!!
clementine / 933 posts
@Mrs. Oreo: I feel like you're still in the game! Fingers crossed for you!
A general question: How often & when do you use OPKs? I've been using them 2x/day, usually right after lunch and right after dinner.
cantaloupe / 6086 posts
@HappyBaker: I know, I so want to be pregnant again after this past loss but having 4 really is terrifying to me.
@HeartAbandoned: I mostly just test in afternoon but sometimes also fmu if I'm feeling antsy. I got my first positive on fmu last month after a faint line the afternoon before.

Just got back my beta results...not what I was hoping for. I did get pregnant with a new pregnancy, but, looks like it is either ectopic or another loss. Going for high-level sono to look for ectopic later today.
Edit - next opening for sono is tomorrow am, so, won't know until then.

@HeartAbandoned: I usually test around 5pm and then add FMU if it's looking like it's about to be positive.
My positive OPK on Saturday was from FMU though.

@lilyofthewest: I'm so sorry. How can they tell
From the one number?
pear / 1697 posts
@knittylady: Yep. (edited to add: realized you said just one number -- you actually need at least 2) A healthy early intra-uterine pregnancy should have betas that double within 72 hours (typically quicker in early pregnancy). A miscarrying pregnancy usually has betas that divide in half within 72 hours. The hallmark of ectopic pregnancies is betas that are relatively flat. My trend was flat.
Sometimes a flat beta trend can mean other things though -- most commonly a pregnancy that has just started to struggle/fail but isn't miscarrying quite yet.
The two weird and highly unlikely things that could still work out for me despite the flat beta trend would be if it was flat because hCG from the old miscarriage was still trending down at the same time as hCG from a new pregnancy was trending up, or if I was pregnant with twins/multiples and one pregnancy failed but another is continuing.

Well, I broke down and ordered my first OPKs because I have no chill. I told myself I would give us some time to just try and use OPKs next cycle if needed, but after some wild temp swings the past few days and no EWCM to show for it I caved. I even paid for one day shipping b/c Prime apparently isn't good enough *insert eyeroll emoji here* Here's hoping they give me some more conclusive info to go on and don't confuse me further. Irregular cycles are so aggravating.

@lilyofthewest: I'm sorry I haven't followed this entire thread, so sorry if I missed important information, but I think I had something similar happen. In our first post D&C cycle of TTC, I got pregnant but my first two hcg draws over a four day period were flat. Thankfully with the next two draws hcg fell by half approx every 48 hours and the pregnancy ended naturally a bit short of 5 weeks. I'm so sorry - I know it really sucks and the limbo and worry about maybe needing methotrexate makes it worse. Thinking of you and sending lots of good thoughts

@HeartAbandoned: I use the Clear Blue OPKs and I used it once a day during the early evenings until I got the smiley face. What are the difference between the stick ones and the Clear Blue ones? I've always wondered.
@lilyofthewest: so sorry! positive thoughts your way!
clementine / 933 posts
@nanilani: "I have no chill." This. This is me, too!
@patientlywaiting19: I'm not sure the difference, as I've only ever used the sticks! Knowing that I'm using 2/day, I just buy the cheapest option. This time around it was a kit from iProven that included HCG tests, too. A positive OPK stick is when the test line is as dark or darker than the control line. So I've had a bit of a test line so far this cycle, and it has lightened over the past 48 hours or so. It's never been as dark as the test line, but I'm only CD11, so I know I need to calm down about it! ha!

@lilyofthewest: I'm so sorry. Fx it's not ectopic. I also had a beta sit flat for a while in an early loss. Lots of hugs

I don't think this is quite positive, but it's a heckuva lot darker than anything I've seen so far! I'm excited and will try to remember to test with FMU tomorrow. Maybe I'll ovulate on my own?!?!

@HeartAbandoned: I've used that same brand for the past couple months and it looks like you are getting really close!

So it turns out I was a little quick to assume that yesterday (6/25) was CD1, only had spotting and full AF didn't show until today 6/26. I'm gonna call it good luck. Cycle that starts on my birthday has to be extra lucky right?
clementine / 933 posts
@Marfi: The cycle I got pregnant with DS started on DH's birthday. I think it's absolutely good luck!
