I'm planning DD's 3rd birthday party and am torn on the idea of goody bags (favors) for the kids to take home. Personally, I'm of the mindset that while it's nice to send people home with little extras like helium balloons, bubbles, an art project, treasure hunt prizes, etc. that were already part of the party decor/activities, sending each child away with a pricey present isn't really necessary. When we attend parties, I really don't expect a formal favor that rivals a present, and I don't love having to deal with a bag of choking hazard cheapie plastic toys/candy I'd rather my kid not eat when we go to parties...so I'm fine with my child not getting anything. But I'm wondering if others might be offended if we don't offer party favor bags for the guests.

What about you - do you love getting party favor bags, dislike/prefer not to get them, or some combination of the two (i.e. feel they are necessary for social niceties, but don't really like them - or think that each kid should get a present rather than plastic junk)?
