Pregnant after a loss

Update: I have a SCH (but it's small) and baby had a good heartbeat (133 bpm) but is measuring about 5 days behind. I'm going back in two weeks for another dating scan and to check on the bleed. He said as long as I don't have cramping or period like flow, I'm likely fine. No blood since Saturday!

@MaryM: that's great news!! I'm so happy to hear there is an explanation for the bleeding. Hope you can put those feet up and get lots of rest

@MaryM: That is good news! No personal experience, but measuring behind is fairly common, from what I've read on here! FX for continued growth and no more serious bleeding!

(Cross posting from the January 2016 board)

First appt today. Dr. typed out the message. Measuring right on track. Heartbeat visible. Very thankful!!!

Weird thing though? He said it was too early to measure the heartbeat. And of course I knew that is not true because I am 7w1d. But the heartbeat was visible, so..... I didn't argue. He said it looked like a good, standard heartbeat.

@ValentineMommy: (and anyone else who had a SCH)...my doctor didn't say anything about pelvic rest...but I'm assuming I should be on it, no?

@MaryM: glad your bleeding has stopped & you got to see baby! Hope all continues to go well for you! I had 1 day of bright red blood with this pregnancy & was terrified I was losing her, too, since that was my first sign with our m/c a year ago, but I'm happy to report I am cuddling my 9 day old rainbow baby as we speak!!

Wishing you all the very best & that you can hang in there through the worry to meet each of your little miracles, too.

Just wanted to check in with you guys. I'm 45 hours away from our follow up US (who's counting?) and getting more anxious by the minute. But I'm not really sure why?

I still have symptoms and have only spotted the tiniest bit (last sunday, and it was brown). But my last MC began with few symptoms, so I'm still so worried.

I'm REALLY hoping we just have a late bloomer and he/she will blow us away on Wednesday and have made up for the last small measurements (it was 5 days smaller than we expected last time) and be totally fine.

@MaryM: I am thinking of you and hoping for wonderful news soon! I have also found that as the appointment gets closer, my anxiety starts to skyrocket. I know it is so hard, but try to stay busy over the next couple of days - maybe you can plan something fun to do to keep yourself distracted? Hang in there!

@MaryM: My fingers are crossed so hard for you! How many weeks are you?

My 1st OB appointment is tomorrow. They are going to do the Materniti21 test and regular bloodwork. Maybe Doppler and maybe US but not the nuchal until next week. I know there could be an issue still but with so much nausea and the fact that I'm showing and seeing the HB twice and everything, I am in a low anxiety place right now. I think it'll spike when I'm there though. It always does.

  27. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@travellingbee: I'm either 8w5d (based on last measurements) or 9w4 days (based on LMP). Either way, I should be passed 9 weeks by the next US. I'm kind of not sure how they managed to say it was ok to have my first US two weeks ago (7 weeks seems really early!), but I guess it was a blessing since I spotted that weekend.

  28. travellingbee

    hostess / papaya / 10219 posts

@MaryM: my dr says the most reliable for dating is around 6 weeks. I think that's why they do it around then? Idk.

  29. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@travellingbee: They say in the packet they hand out at the first visit that the first US is usually at 8-10 weeks (I think because it's harder to measure the heart beat before then, and it's more likely that you might not see one if your math is off on conception).

But I'd already had a follow up scheduled to check on a cyst, so I asked if my last appointment would be too early and they said no. I'm not upset that I went in so early, I'm just kind of surprised I got an US before 9 weeks. I'm kind of relieved we get a second one so that maybe the baby will actually look like a baby this time and not just a dotted line on the screen where they're measuring a blob

@MaryM: Praying for you!!! I know the feeling of being completely freaked out before an ultrasound. It will be the the most amazing feeling to see your gummy bear. Can't wait til you share a pic with us!

@MaryM: Oh well that is true. I guess it depends on what they are looking for. Good luck seeing your cute little bean!

@MaryM: I've been thinking about you and keeping you, your DH, and little baby in my prayers. It's hard but I hope you can try and stay busy the next two days until your appointment!

  33. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

    @HappyBluebird: Thanks

I *could* stay plenty busy (we're still not unpacked) but I just don't want to. lol

DH works nights, so I get home and he's unpacked stuff, but that just means taking it out of a box, not putting it away. So our crap is scattered throughout the house waiting for homes. It's so annoying!

  34. HappyBluebird

    clementine / 957 posts

@MaryM: Ugh, we had this problem as well! I had really good intentions of making sure everything found its right place in our house but we definitely put things places just to get them out of sight. I'm embarrassed to say that 4.5 years later some things still haven't found their right home

But I've started cleaning out closets and drawers in the last week or two so hopefully I can keep up the momentum and donate lots of things we don't even know we have!

  35. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@HappyBluebird: I thought I donated a ton before we moved, but I'm still finding a ton of stuff to get rid of. We have the biggest stack of donation receipts ever!

I think DH has good intentions. But I'd almost rather the stuff be in a box if it's not being put "away" right away. I think it's been the biggest downfall of us having opposite hours. If we were home at the same time at least I could be putting stuff away AS he unpacked it. Instead I have a million things out to greet me when I get home and it's so overwhelming.

@MaryM: hang in there!! I hope the hours go by quickly until your appointment & all looks right on track for your lo. Fwiw, I had 2 early u/s's (6 & 7 wks) since I was working w/ an RE & I had some early bleeding. We really just confirmed hb at those two, I think, but I was SO thankful to have the early check ins. Keeping my fingers crossed right for you!

@travellingbee: good luck at your OB appt, too! Hope baby's growing well & all checks out well for you!

    Less than 24 hours left!

and I think talking to you guys about unpacking shamed me into putting some stuff away last night before I collapsed and got ready for bed at 8.

@MaryM: yay for getting some stuff put away! I've been in bed embarrassingly early lately!

@MaryM: Our house took about 2 months to get fully unpacked, and I've taken 2 hour naps about 5 times a week ever since finding out I'm pregnant, so noooo judgment over here But I agree, unpacking might be a good distraction during the hours leading up to the ultrasound!

  40. MaryM

    pomelo / 5129 posts

@DesertDreams88: I'm glad I took all of tomorrow off. Last US I slept MAYBE 2 hours the night before. I have a feeling that could happen again since I was awake at 2:30 last night.

Maybe if I tell myself if I wake up in the middle of the night I HAVE to unpack I won't want to admit I'm awake and get out of bed!
