Just had to share this very proud parent moment.

So, we're a very huggy family and DD1 LOVES giving hugs. But we explained to her that not everyone wants a hug, all the time. So before she gives friends and teachers a hug, she has to ask first. She's been really good about asking "you want a hug?" before giving one. And a lot of times her friends will say no. It makes her sad but she accepts it and moves on.
This morning at drop off she saw a teacher in the hallway and asked if the teacher wanted a hug. She did, so DD1 gave her a hug. Another little girl was waiting with the teacher for her school bus (before care) and wanted to give DD1 a hug. DD said "no, thank you". The little girl's face immediately went sad! DH didn't want to push it but just asked DD "you're sure you don't want to give her a hug?" She said again "no, thank you". So DH left it at that and they went to DD's room. In the room DH explained to her that it's OK she didn't want to give the little girl a hug. But when we give hugs we spread a lot of joy. Don't you want to put a little joy in that little girl's heart? DD said "yes!". So she ran back out of her room and down the hallway to give the little girl a hug. The little girl's face immediately lit up!

I'm so proud of her! I'm proud of DH for not pushing the hug but also explaining how her actions made another person feel. Then DD decided on her own how to act.

Sorry that was so long!

What's a really proud parenting moment for you recently?
