I hoping for one whenever we have another child. Following!

@Autumnmama79: I had a really easy c-section recovery. But I really want to experience a vaginal birth and get to have my seconds old baby in my arms. I had a failed induction at 37 weeks (severe pre-e) but my OB thinks it was just too early and my body wasn't ready. I'm hopeful that if I could go long enough to go into labor on my own that we body would do what it needs to do.

I had one last week

I had a csec three years ago. I was induced at 41 weeks and progressed to 9cm before it stalled. 24 hours later, doctors thought it would be better to just have a csec. My csec recovery was actually a breeze and I had no problems.

With this pregnancy, my doctor suggested a vbac as long as it came naturally (no induction allowed) and before 41 weeks. Honestly, I thought I would try a vbac but it would stall again and I would end up with a csec and I was okay with that bc I was familiar with recovery.

Well, little man decided to come at 38 weeks, labor progressed super fast, I barely made it into the l&d room before they're telling me to push, and this was sans pain medication (my only "birth plan" was epidural ASAP). I'm still shocked labor went so fast. Recovery wise...it's a week later and it still hurts down there. I also burst blood vessels in both my eyes from the pushing. Doesn't hurt, but I can't go out in public without looking like a mutant alien

I did and it was amazing. My first daughter was breech so planned c section. My vbac happened at 40 plus 2 days. I was 3 cm dilated and I went in and she broke my water and I progressed pretty quickly in my own and my OB was happy with that. The birth was wonderful, no complications and I literally could have gotten up and danced 5 minutes later. I've written more details in other posts on the topic that you can find by searching on this site. My words of advice are, get a supportive Doctor, don't try to plan until the very end and be ready for anything that happens day of. It really is a trial of labor so you never know how your body responds to labor.

I was thinking about a thread like this today! Like @shortcake:, I had a planned csection bc DD was breech. I'm hoping I'll be a good vbac candidate for this September baby I'm growing!

@Ash: I'm interested in why your C section recovery was easier. Mine was horrible! Hate to hear that you had a hard time with your VBAC. Was your C section scheduled or emergency?

@misolee: That's kind of scary about the blood vessels! Do you think your recovery this time around is easier or harder?

@justjules: my doctor is comfortable with me having another c-section. I just had my third last month.

I think all you VBAC mamas are awesome. I wish I were a candidate. Oh well.

@justjules: I had my third just 12 months after my second (oops!). My OB wasn't thrilled for me to be pregnant again and I had to deliver a little early but my uterus was in great shape and managed to carry an almost eleven pound baby without incident. She said I could easily have another, maybe even a fifth.
I will say that my recoveries have been very easy and in general I heal quickly and am pretty healthy. I think that contributes to my quick recoveries.

I had a vbac six weeks ago! I didn't really want one, but my OB strongly encouraged me to try because I was a good candidate (first c-section was due to breech baby). It ended up being successful but the initial recovery felt way worse than my c-section. In the end, I'm almost fully recovered now and feel good about it.

@erinbaderin: that is crazy! When my OB said something about the possibility of a second baby being breech, I was surprised b/c I thought it was uncommon to begin with. Do they have ideas why #2 is currently breech as well?

Its been about a week and half but the initial recovery has been harder. With my csec, I was off the drugs day after my surgery, off of Motrin, by the time we got home, and besides the occasional hurting when I sneezed, I felt fine. I couldn't drive or go up and down stairs easily for a couple of weeks but it wasn't a big deal. Also, I think my heavy bleeding stopped by the time i got home from the hospital.

With the vbac, it still hurts down there when i walk or sit. It hurts even more when I use the bathroom. Someone got me this spray, and I'm still using that and the water spritzer thing every time I go to the potty. Bleeding is still heavy, esp when I'm up and walking around. My entire body is sore too (like my arms, neck, and thighs) from the effects of pushing. I started taking prescription Motrin in the hospital and still continue to do so for the pain.

I had to have a c-section with my second baby due to her being a super stubborn breech. I always knew I would try to have a vbac for the next baby, and last October I did! It was such an amazing experience, I had such an amazing and supportive "team" which is really important. Recovery was a dream compared to the c/s. So happy that I was able to do it! Good luck

If you have any specific questions I would be happy to answer! My c/s was in overall horrible experience. In comparison to my vbac it was night and day. I physically felt soooo much better from day one. Recovery wasn't pleasant either time, but the vbac recovery was so much better. I'm just glad it worked out!

@Happygal: I had an arcuate uterus, but I had it resected during two surgeries a few years before I got pregnant. The report from my first c section says that the dip isn't deep enough to explain the baby being breech, but now that #2 is the same I suspect that's the reason for it. I just googled and apparently the odds of a second consecutive breech baby are just under 10%. I've also been seeing a chiropractor for the past few weeks who said that my pelvis has been misaligned for a while, which apparently is a cause of breech.

@gotkimchi: I've suspected he was breech since about 30 weeks, because the movements felt the same as with my first. With my first my midwives told me he was head down starting at 30 weeks and my husband kept poking him in what we thought was his bum saying "it's so hard and round! How is his his bum?" Turns out we'd been poking him in the head for weeks (we didn't find out he was breech until 39 weeks). But like other people have said don't worry about it now, I've heard that 80% of breech babies flip between 34 and 36 weeks.
