Only setting and clearing the table...I guess we had it pretty easy.

there were 4 of us and I was in charge or the Vacuum an dusting.

My mom had this shelf FULL of knick knacks and I had to remove them all to dust - I hated it!!!

None. Mom did everything.

It did me a huge disservice.

My kids will have chores as soon as they're able. It's a life skill that shouldn't be skipped.

@mrbee: yes! And I completely agree. My siblings never had to do many chores until I moved in with my mom.

I didn't really have set chores other than keeping my room clean. During the week my mom would leave me a list of things to do after school (emptying the dishwasher, folding the clothes in the dryer, helping my brother with homework, starting dinner, setting the table, etc). On the weekend if my parents were doing chores so were we - cleaning the bathrooms, dusting or windexing, vacuuming, Raking leaves, mowing the lawn, changing the sheets, etc. And then we would usually do something fun as a family.

I had to clean the two bathrooms every weekend, and help with loading/unloading the dishwasher every day. My parents didn't force me to clean my room or make my bed, I guess they let me do whatever I wanted with my own space. But definitely expected to participate in keeping the house clean!

None. And even as a kid, I thought it was dumb and a bad way to teach your children to respect the work it takes to keep the house. So, my 3 year old is already responsible for several age appropriate chores, and they'll be increasing along with her age. I don't want her to feel burdened by them, but I do want her to learn that this is hard work, keeping a house, and that we all need to pitch in.

Dishes. The three of us kids rotated who did the dishes - by hand, no dishwasher! - each night. And I remember dusting a lot. We were supposed to keep our rooms clean but we never did.

pretty much every household chore, increasing in age. sweeping/dusting/making beds, setting/clearing table when I was younger. laundry, vaccuum, mop and ironing in high school. washing the dishes goes without saying, EXCEPT when it came to scrubbing the pots as my mum is very particular about it. I would cook lunch/dinner a fair bit in later high school too as my parents would be working their 2nd job together til late.

Nothing specific and regular. We were expected to help out with whatever my parents asked us to do because that's what you do when you're part of the family.

When I was younger, I mopped the kitchen and hallways and did the laundry every week. As a teenager, I mowed the lawn weekly, and we did the dishes nightly, but there weren't other set chores in the house. We had to clean the house and weed the garden whenever my mom told us to (which felt like all the time). My sister and I had farm chores every afternoon when we were teenagers. Feed and water the calves and the pigs and clean their stalls. Give the cows water and milk them. When we were really unlucky, we had to help clean graineries or load grain or put straw in the hayloft or put fencing in. We worked our asses off as kids. Unfortunately for my LO, it means I'll have no sympathy for her when she complains of the few chores she'll have as a city kid.

Dusting, cleaning the glass tabletops/doors/mirrors and keeping my room tidy. Sometimes I swiffered/swept the floors. I had it pretty good as a kid!

For a while my chore was vacuuming on Saturday before I could go out and play and for a while it was laundry. Of course cleaning my room. Other than that it was whatever chore I was told to do that day. I never really had a set list, just whatever had to be done.

Already at 2 DS is responsible for putting his toys away before bath time. I think it is good to start them young with how to take care of things. And of course he is at the age were he wants to help with whatever we are doing.
