I want to say yes, because I was *obsessed* with Addy, but only ever got the books. I would read the magazines over and over and over again, flag all the cute dolls and accessories I wanted for bday/Christmas, but never got any of them

I guess if my kids really really want one, I would save up for a bday or Christmas gift.

Maybe if she's really into them. I loved the books as a kid but never wanted the dolls. I'm not sure I knew they had them.

I will get her one for sure. I will get her a cheaper Target version first and make sure she can prove she can take care of it first.

Today Show always has deals with these. $75 for a doll and some clothes. Only a certain doll but it makes it much more affordable.

They are crazy expensive but if I have a daughter who shows interest in dolls I probably will. About half of the girls I have nannied for have adored them and it is so much fun picking out accessories with them and visiting the store for special occasions. The other half either had zero interest in dolls or just never took to the AG dolls.

Yes but only one of the historical ones and only as a reward for reading all of the books about that girl. That was my parents' rule for my sisters and me when we were young. As a result I have a few of the dolls I can pass on to her and I'm hoping that might suffice.

Same situation as @lawbee11:. Our daughters have the same name and when the doll with their name was retired we snatched them up! I'll probably give my daughter hers on the Christmas that she's 5 years old.

@twodoghouse: The one I bought is one of the historical dolls & I also bought the book series (they're already on the bookshelves in her nursery). I can't wait to read them with her...haha I am irrationally excited about this AG doll!

@MamaMoose: I think they're already worth a lot of $$$ on Ebay. DH wants to keep it in the box and sell it in 10 years but I said no way!

A friend's teenager was raising $$ for a school trip and selling her Josephine doll, so I bought it along with her dance trunk and a bunch of clothes and accessories. They are all like new, still in their boxes. I don't plan to give it to LO until she's 4-5, maybe older. I do plan to buy her more dolls.

Definitely, once she's older and asks for one and can take care of it - prob around 5 or 6?

I have my original Samantha and all her accessories for LO when she's ready but we'll definitely get her another if she's into dolls. I had so much fun with mine!

No, but only because I know my MIL will be buying them their dolls. She has bought one for all her granddaughters (there are 4 other granddaughters), so I'm assuming she will for our daughters.

My mom will. My sister and I begged her to buy us each one when we were little but she couldn't afford it. She bought my niece one and said she will buy my daughter one if we ever have a daughter. I guess she wants to make up for not being able to buy us one.

Probably not. Probably mostly because we're Canadian lol. I did hear they were bringing American girl dolls here soon. Seems weird to buy my daughter a doll with American in the name when we're Canadian and she wouldn't be an "American girl".
