Aww I'm really sorry. The only thing I can say is to try to keep a very detailed log for a few months of your in time and out time including lunch breaks and such. At least that way if you do flex a lot of time but make it up, you have some documentation to "prove it". Also for medical requests I would go ahead and send to a supervisor in an email so you can document that this wasn't just time you didn't show up but that it was pre-arranged and approved.

Ugh, I hate that!!! I'd def see if you can talk to your boss privately about this so that there's a mutual agreement/trust between you.

I had something similar happen when I got a new boss while pregnant. My response was "okay, I see you aren't happy with me making up the time and working from home. I'll be taking a half day off and will complete x urgent task tomorrow and push y non-urgent task to next week". My boss quickly realized that me making up time was way better than having me take a ton of leave. But I am a government employee sitting on months of sick time, strong performance reviews, and permanent status. It is much less risky for me to make that kind of offer than most.
