Hi im new to the board. I have a 4 week old who wakes himself up by hitting himself with his hands. We've tried swaddling however he either starts crying or breaks free. We have a hard time getting him to take a proper nap. Would appreciate any advice or help. Thanks

I would try one of the swaddle suits that either have the zip in it or velcro, rather than a wrap.

Echoing the need for a swaddle that zips or has fabric that helps keep their arms down. We use the Miracle Blanket (you can buy it on Amazon or bed, bath, and beyond, among other websites). It has extra fabric for securing their arms closer to their bodies. This helped so much and she has only been able to break free from it as she's gotten bigger (she's almost 15 weeks).
Regular swaddles (flannel or Muslin) did not work well for our little wrestler! Good luck!

We absolutely loved the Wombie. My daughter slept so well in it and it was nice to just zip her in and know she was stuck! (Haha) It was also great to be abel to unzip the bottom for night time diaper changes.

My DD liked the love to dream swaddle up. She loved having her hands up by her face but slightly restricted.
Lots of babies will cry and fight swaddles but eventually will settle down and stay asleep longer with one. Does she settle down with the 5 S's after you've swaddled her?

Another vote for the love to dream arms up zip swaddle! Ds2 never liked being swaddled and always has his arms up. We've used this since we transferred him to his crib at 3 weeks!

Another vote for the miracle blanket. We just transitioned out of ours into the merlin sleep suit at 3.5 months. If you were local to me I'd loan you one!
