I have no idea but my 11 month old has been doing it too. So far I've just been ignoring it. He also hasn't been eating as well. I think because he is bored with what I've been giving him. I gave him something new and he didn't spit it out. Maybe try a new food? It's hard for us because he can't have dairy and we really don't eat much meat.

We ignore it. There is no point in getting angry. They don't know they are doing something you don't like! If she does it I offer something else from her plate, and then later offer the offensive food again. If she is taking everything out of her mouth I assume she's all done and we finish up.

LO has just started doing this too, she is 10 months. She doesnt take it out of her mouth. But she starts by sticking out her tongue all the way which usually turns into her food falling out, and then she just starts spitting it out or letting it fall out. She usually starts to do this when she is about half way done. I wasnt sure what to do about it. I have tried tapping her cheek or her nose when she does it and stay no we dont spit our our food and it hasnt stopped her at all. I have also taken her food away when she first started but I felt really bad so I dont so that any more. I am hoping it is just a phase.

my 11 mo does this and i ignore it. he spits some, he eats some. depends on the day. i am not worried yet, ok i worry sometimes - but i know i don't need to because i am still breastfeeding him.
