I heard about this! What a terrible tragedy! I heard that there was a team of 20, so almost all of them lost their lives. Their families are in my thoughts.

My husband is a firefighter/paramedic and this is my biggest fear. My thoughts are with all of their families including their fire service brothers and sisters.

When we lived in Northern Arizona my husband went out on wildfires all season - it was his whole job. This is every wildfire fighter's family's worst nightmare. I'm heartbroken for those men and their friends, family, & community.
My husband always assures me that he has a fire shelter and knows protocols and is safe when he goes out. I bet those brave men had said those same words. I'm dreading July now, it's my husbands turn to go out on wildfires

This is absolutely devastating. I woke up to this news this morning (I hadn't been watching tv really this weekend, so I didn't know about the fire). I have family that live in Yarnell and in Peeples Valley. As far as I know, they're ok, but I'm unsure if their homes are still standing.
Any prayers are appreciated that they made it out safely.

Half the town's houses and some of our bravest and best were lost yesterday. When you live outside of the big cities, you count on the Hot Shots to keep your home and family safe. Growing up the smell of smoke in the summer terrified me.
I have several cousins and old classmates in this line of work (thankfully on different teams than Granite Mountain) every summer makes me nervous. Thinking of their family and friends today. @JennyLayneAZ: thinking of your family too.

This was such awful news to wake up to this morning. My co-worker's husband is a fireman. I'm always sending my prayers out when there are fires.

Just saw a widow of one of the hot shots on CBS. He leaves behind for children under 6 years old. Putting a face and story on a tragedy makes it so much harder to hear about it. The hotshots took cover and still died together. So tragic.
