We are having DD 1st birthday at our house, but I am getting worried as to all the kiddos and keeping them engaged!
Ages range from 1-4
Ideas?!
We do have a big fenced in back yard but the grass isn't the greatest!

For my daughter's first birthday in January (so no outside for us in Ohio), we had a pop up tent for the kids to crawl around in and also set up a table of crayons, some puzzles and some books.
If you're going to be outside, I would suggest bubbles. I also like stickers and paper.

@reyorra: Thanks, we are in FL so we can definitely still be outside!
I am thinking craft table, bubbles and such!

We laid out long strips of plain wallpaper (lining paper) in the garden and all the kids went wild with paints! It got very messy!

What about some kiddo entertainment? Sing along person for instance.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I was thinking of a face painter?!
But honestly if I am going to spend the $ on that I might as well have it a a park and pay for a pavilion!

I think at that age (certainly our parties and the ones we have been to) have just been free play at that age and the kids have had a blast just running around together and playing with LO's toys. No one gets bored or needs entertainment. How many four year olds are coming? They are the only ones I feel might want a bit more but I'm sure they would be fine.

So great that it's still warm and kids can play outside where you are! For us, I'm ordering some Christmas crafts from Oriental Trading for the kids to do.

Bounce houses are pretty popular around here.
For DS's birthday, I had real snow balls and let the kids go at it. They also played with DS's toys and the older ones (even the 4 year olds), just went upstairs and played on their iPads or watched a movie in the theater room.

I think what you have in mind will work out fine-- craft table and bubbles. In my experience, the kids in that age group find a way to have fun with whatever's available and each others' company, without set "entertainment". Even your existing toys in a new setting would be fun.
Maybe a ball pit or set out a blanket and some fun pillows and toys/books?
If you want to splurge on hiring someone, you could do a balloon artist, bubble show, face painter, musician, etc :). Or buy little craft kits?

@FaithFertility: I'd be hesitant on face painter. Sounds like disaster with small kids.
I'd do simple.:. Ball pit, bubbles, etc

Ours was super simple-- bubbles, and lo's normal toys (play kitchen, shopping cart, and water table on our balcony). it was in our apt, so limited space, and more adults than kiddos
