we are in a jam... We have such a big family and we are some what close to our extended family so I'm not sure who to invite. The list of all family, extended family and friends is 96.... No way do I want something that big! I really want something small, so we can have it in our backyard but If I cut out extended family I know there will be some upset people. I'm not sure what to do..

We invited our extended family, but it's not as big and not everyone could come (maybe it was a weekday morning?) So we had maybe 15 people?
Could you have a friends party and then a family party?

We actually did invite that many people, which is why we just had it at a local park. If it makes you feel any better, not everyone shows up, so maybe you can still invite them all and have it in your yard.

I know it's really tough, but we just got cutthroat and ended up dwindling our list down to about 60. Try to really think about the "somewhat" close people. My mom was a tad upset when some were cut out, but after I showed her the list, she understood. Sixty people at a family party for us is keeping it small, which is what I wanted.

I'm with Boogs on this one- if you have to have a lot of people, move the party away from the house. Somewhere the kids can play, that you get to leave! If it's in your house you'd have visitors all evening and into the night, then the clean up... In the park, weather permitting, trays of sandwiches and a cake.

Most of my friends and fam are in CA, so we only invited family and friends in GA (my mom and sister flew out for the party too). I think our total count including LOs was 22?

We don't have any extended family around so that was an easy one. We had immediate family and friends totaling around 30. We had it in our home so I didn't want too many people anyway.

Uh....I didn't even think about inviting extended family and they live an hr away. I'm just inviting friends of hers from daycare and my friends kids. My mom and sister will come too.

Is it ok to invite only extended family your close to? not all the extended family? I feel bad If I invite one aunt and uncle I should invite the others.

We invited family (our parents, siblings, aunts, uncles and cousins) and close friends. I'm hoping it'll be about 25 people.... because a lot of family probably won't show sadly.
