My 3 month old has been waking up suddenly the past few nights with hysteric screams as if he's having a scary dream. It also seems to occur around the same time -- approximately 40 min after he falls asleep. When I go into his room, he seems to still be asleep and once I pick him up, sway with him and gently shush him he is competely asleep again. Has anyone eXperienced something similar? My poor lil guy!!

Maybe he has gas? R did this a few times and she usually had trapped gas.

My LO used to do this. I still have no idea why, but I did the same as you. I would go in and rock her in my arms for a couple of seconds but her eyes wouldn't be open. I think ~40 mins is when the first sleep cycle is over. Maybe that has something to do with it?

@yellowbird: good to know! I read somewhere that you can try to dreamfeed before the baby 'wakes' as a preventative measure.
