We will find out in two weeks for her 4 month appointment. But I am not starting till 6 months.

Our last was 4. The one we're looking at recommends waiting until atleast 6 (from my understanding of another mom that has seen her)... she's for extended breastfeeding too.

we started at 5.5, tho DS seemed ready at 5. skipped rice/oatmeal and went straight to carson's.

Because the kids were a good size, they said 6, but sounded like they were open to earlier....

My ped said we could start anytime between 4-6 months, but recommended that we wait until closer to 6 months. Ultimately, she let us make the final decision and we started solids (skipped cereals) at 5 months.

They told me I could start at 4 but wanted us to wait until 6.

She suggested we start cereal at her 4 month appointment, and we started a week later.

ours recommended 6, but said if he was showing interest, we could start sooner. we ended up starting with some simple purees around 5.5 months.

Ours said anywhere between 4-6, but wait for baby cues. We started unsuccessfully at 5 months, and he finally took them at 5.5 months!

Our said we could start giving him rice cereal at 4 months if we really wanted/E was showing interest but she recommended waiting until 6 months.

She talked about it at the 4 month appt. in the case we wanted to start/LO seemed ready before we saw her again at 6 months. When we went for the 6 months she asked if we had tried any solids - I liked that there was room for discussion before hand but that there was no assumption as to when we would actually start.

6 months. I did a lot of my own research to be sure I agreed though.

they talked to me about it at 4 months, but didn't push it at all. we might actually start before our 6 month appt, but i'm waiting until she can sit on her own.

our Ped actually suggested at 3 months, because LO was/is a bigger baby and thought it would help her fill up more/sleep better (he is kind of old school on some things) BUT i knew she wasn't ready tho (wasn't showing any signs) so we waited until a week before 6 months i believe?

I'll find out Friday what they suggest! But I plan to hold out until six months, regardless of the suggestion.

She strongly recommends 6 months, but encourages parents to trust their instincts if they think their LOs should start a little early (like 2 weeks, not 2 months).

Planning on 6 months. Will talk to the ped next week for her recommendation.

4 months. Our pediatrician didn't even mention anything about waiting until 6 months. I found out about that on my own obsessive online research! I decided to wait until closer to 6 months based on that. Our pediatrician also thinks it's a bad idea to skip rice cereal and oatmeal. Eh, I gave that to DD twice and I've moved on to fruit and veggie purees. Not a fan of infant cereals.

We talked about it at 4 months in case we wanted to start a little earlier than 6 months based on cues. She told us what she recommended but to trust my instinct and watch his cues. She told us to skip rice cereal but that oatmeal was good because of the iron. We ended up starting oatmeal around 5 months and purees around 6 months. I liked that she wasn't pushy one way or another and ultimately it was our decision.

She said we could start at 4 if we wanted to, but didn't push it. We did anyways though

6 months and no cereals, she recommended going straight to fruit/veggies/what we were eating pureed.

6 months - and said anything was game, so long as we avoided honey, peanut butter, and fresh strawberries.

Mine said 6, but wasn't firm on it. I decided to follow her lead, and at 4.5 months, let her start exploring solids. She really liked them, but she had a lot of diaper rash from it at first. I'll wait longer with another child.

Said we could start at 4 if readiness signs were there but did not push it til 6.

It was never mentioned at 4, and somewhat mentioned at 6. The BLW threw them for a loop though.

Mine suggested 4 because he had read recent research stating that starting earlier can reduce the chance of food allergies. We gave her some solids here and there starting around 4.5 months, but didn't start seriously until 6 months.
