which do you prefer?
I don't have a preference, but if I had to choose, I think I'd go with a 4 prong. (I have a 6)

I prefer 6 and that's what I have. I think 4 prong makes it look more like cushion cut (which isn't a bad thing at all, my preference is just 6).

if I had a round diamond, I think I'd prefer 6. It just seems safer.

I have a 4, and I like it. I feel like the diamond is more of what you see. With 6 prongs I feel like prongs draw your attention away from the diamond.

I have 6 and prefer it because I am paranoid about security of the stone. My mom lost her diamond and my friend knocked hers out, both had 4 prongs.

@DillonLion: yup. I have a round diamond but people (at first glance) always think it's a princess cut which bothers me because I prefer the traditional round! That's the biggest reason I prefer six prongs.

I have an emerald (instead of a diamond) with 4, but I've knocked out the stone before and wish it had 6 because I feel like it would be a bit more secure.

I think you need 6 if your diamond is a certain size. Mine's not thaaat big of a rock (round) so 4 is fine! I don't like all those nubs sticking out and taking away from my diamond.

I prefer 4 no matter the stone! I have an emerald cut so obviously it's 4. But if I had a round or anything else Id still want 4. I feel like 4 prongs let the diamond stand out more...less metal or something? Simpler?
But I have heard 6 is safer to protect the stone! -
@chopsuey: Thanks for posting this. It made me look down at my ring and I noticed one of my prongs is bent a little. The diamond is still secure. But looks like I will be taking it to get fixed. I just need to find a place local.
I have a 6. Our jeweler wouldn't put my stone in a 4, said 6 is more secure.

I have and like 4, but I really don't have a strong preference. I am glad my metal is platinum though since that's harder than gold and I'm clumsy. I hardly wear my e ring these days though bc I feel like I'll scratch the baby.

Neither! I am destroyer of all things nice, so I got a bezel set to keep it safe. If I had to choose, I would go with what @oliviaoblivia: has to keep it as safe and secure as possible.

I prefer 6. I would hate for a prong to break and lose the stone with only 4!!
