Is this normal? It’s like she’s shaking her head no. It doesn’t seem involuntary or anything. But I’m worried anyway. Should I call the doctor?

@CatchAFallingStar: my one year old started doing this around 8 months. I thought she might have an ear ache so I took her in. Doctor said she was fine and it’s just something babies do 🤷♀️ I wouldn’t worry!

Yup, totally normal! When I was a nanny many years ago, the baby i was caring for started doing that, and i was also worried until i saw it mentioned in What to Expect, The First Year. Both my kids also did it a bit around the same age.

Yeah, babies do weird stuff. Mine (also 8 mo) has been leaning her head to the side, which, I think we (us adults - parents, grandparents) do when we're saying hi to her sometimes, so, she's copying us lol
She's also been "flapping" her arm lately.
So, I vote, normal.

Sounds normal! All of my kids did this when happy... even now if I say "do the happy baby thing!" they know what I mean and do it
