DS spent the first 7 weeks of his life happy and easily going to sleep. He actually slept quite a lot, waking long enough to eat.
Then it is like a switch flipped, if he even started to get tired and was still awake he would scream but usually a minute or two ofvrocking and he'd be out.
He was doing 2.5-3 hour stretches through the night. Last night he was waking at less than two hours each time. He'd act hungry, nurse a few minutes and back asleep.
Today he has barely napped. Probably 2-3 hours out of 12. He has spent a majority of the day screaming because he is so tired. This evening he had a couple big nursing sessions and would fall asleep for about 5 minutes. Nonstop screaming. He just finally passed out on me and I'm afraid to put him down.
Any tips, tricks to get him back to bring happy and going to sleep? Commiseration? Hope that it will get better soon?
Thanks for reading my novel!
Sorry you are going through this hell. I posted something similar a week or so ago after having 2 very tough weeks with DS2 who will soon be 8 weeks. We are maaaaybe on the other side of this, until the next leap/growth spurt whatever of course, but sounds similar. Lots of crying, can’t be calmed, sleep is crap, etc. Etc. I was prepared to cosleep and take him to the doctor but then it evened out just as suddenly. In the past week he’s gone 5-6 hr stretches 3 or 4 times. Day sleep is still crap but oh well. I wore him in the evenings and basically just tried our best with bouncing, feeding, swaddling, white noise, etc. All that to say is I would just ride it out and keep an eye on it because it could change very quickly again...hopefully for the better.
