Mine were going up but not quite doubling. I had spotting in the beginning, but then it stopped. I ended up miscarrying at 7.5 weeks. Hopefully it will be quicker for you! I'm very sorry you are going through this.

@BlueWolverine: My first pregnancy was a sqinter at 12 dpo, went to the doc at about 5.5 weeks because of some brown spotting, HCG was low, more spotting. I think a week later my HCG was zero and I had a pretty normal period.

It took a week after my low beta for me to start bleeding. I was on progesterone though. I think it was three or four days after I started progesterone. I didn't POAS any more after my beta because they already hadn't been getting any darker and I didn't want the stress.

I didn't have betas checked with my MC (before my d&e), but it took 8 weeks AFTER my d&e to no longer have hcg in my system. I would have tested positive for at least 6 of those weeks after "everything" was removed.

@BlueWolverine: Well, looking at your timeline more closely, I would say that most likely your numbers aren't doubling. You must have had a beta of at least 8 at 17 DPO to get a positive HPT...probably even higher since blood hcg is higher than the hcg that shows up in your urine. So by 22 DPO, you'd expect the number to be higher than 20. Again, I'm really sorry you are going through this. I'd probably go ahead and have the wine. Take care of yourself.

I had a very early loss at 5.5 weeks, and didn't have blood samples taken before (doc was too busy to see me). I think my HCG was in the 30s when the bleeding started. In a couple of weeks, the numbers were down to zero.

I know how you feel... you want to hold out hope to the last, just in case. Hugs. If you're worried about the wine, have some chocolate instead

@BlueWolverine: I was so relieved when I finally passed the clot and knew it was done (I was still holding out a bit of hope, but also knew it was impossible.) I drank SO MUCH wine that weekend.

@BlueWolverine: I didn't have levels drawn that early, so I can't comment on that...but I had a very annoying "wait and see" situation, so I totally hear you on how much that can suck.

I started spotting before my 8 wk scan, so they asked me if it was possible my math could have been off. The embryo measured closer to 6 weeks. We were NTNP, so it was a total possibility.

I went through weeks of blood tests (my levels were still rising) and ultrasounds and spotting until it was finally confirmed I was miscarrying about two weeks later.

I hope that if you are miscarrying, you'll know for sure much sooner. I think the waiting took more of a toll on me than anything physical or emotional did

@BlueWolverine: I'm in the same situation now sweetie. My hCG at 13 DPO was 20.7. Today at 15 DPO my hCG was 22. So not really going up at all. Just waiting for the bleeding to start. This sucks so much. I am also supposed to go back on Tuesday to get another blood draw.

I had two instances of low hcg during 2 of my losses.
#1 - I didn't realize I had low and non doubling hcg until 6 weeks. I started bleeding at 5w5d, but progesterone medication stopped it. The baby grew to 7w5d but I didn't find out until over 9 weeks and I started bleeding (miscarrying naturally) that morning but I had the D&C.
#2 - I got a positive test at 10dpo and went to get betas the next day. My hcg was a 7. I started spotting the next day and had a normal period at 14dpo.

@BlueWolverine: I'm sorry to hear you are going through this! I had a BFP in October that I miscarried 2 weeks ago. I had heavy spotting at 5 weeks that I believe was the start although I didn't fully start to miscarry until 6 weeks. I didn't have early betas, but I did have them done during the process and once I passed everything my hcg dropped dramatically. I bled for a week and got a negative test about a week after that. I had strong numbers in the beginning but the baby was measuring behind at my first ultrasound, with a low heartbeat. I started spotting then bleeding one day shy of eight weeks, but baby measured seven on ultrasound that day.

For me, my hcg was 22 at 12dpo. My levels continued to double, but I knew they were still low. I started miscarrying today at 26dpo (6 weeks pregnant). I go for more lab work today to make sure my levels are dropping.

@BlueWolverine: Limbo definitely isn't a fun place to be. It sounds horrible but even though I'm sad I'm also relieved, because deep down I knew the pregnancy wasn't viable. The other night I said to my DH that I wish it would just happen already, now I guess my wish came true.
