I prefer Ibuprofen because DS takes it better and it lasts longer. I use tylenol if I need it to kick in fast.

Depends on the issue. if its mild pain then acetaminophen, but if its really bad or its for night time then ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is stronger and the effects last longer

I didn't know you could give ibuprofen after 6 months! We always give acetaminophen.

Our pediatrician prefers Ibuprofen, and it has worked great for us so far.
I also remember hearing about Tylenol possibly increasing childhood asthma on NPR about a year ago (http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2012/02/20/147002356/does-tylenol-worsen-asthma-for-kids), since my husband is an asthmatic, we are trying to avoid increasing our son's risks.
*Note- that isn't meant to freak anyone out, and I haven't looked into any journals further about this, we just made the choice to avoid it because there are already risk factors there.

We use both, usually acetaminophen during the day and ibuprofen at night.

@lemondrop: Are you referring to the Brand Tylenol or acetaminophen in general

Oops I voted for the wrong one by accident. With fevers, both my girls respond better to Ibuprofen.

I've never given my kids ibuprofen because acetaminophen works fine for them.

We have and use both but I prefer ibuprofen. I think it works faster.
