So long story short...for father's day my husband gave his father matching shirts suggesting that they wear them while they do something together. My FIL is very ill and unlikely to be at all mobile for much longer (he is barely mobile now though), and we are worried about how much time he has left. Because his health deteriorated so much so quickly, the activity plan was pushed and pushed, and not yet happened. Now that his dad is so sick, he can't think of what to do. So I am wondering if you guys have any ideas.
In terms of interests:
-they are both computer/electrical engineer types
-they both love things like sailing, windsurfing, skiing
-they both love difficult problem solving
-they love music, though different types
-they love being outdoors
But:
-my FIL can't really walk, or sit in a single spot for too long without needing to stand up/shift
-my FIL needs naps pretty frequently
Oh man. As I write this I think that I realize there is no perfect activity for them to do together. When my husband was younger, he and his dad did rockets together, and I suggested going to visit with a kit they could build and launch, but he wasn't so keen on it.
Anyhow, if you have any great ideas, we would be so appreciative!
