I tried it but it wasn't for me. I think I was a bit skeptical and just didn't feel comfortable enough. I was at a birth fair over the weekend and came across a practice where they also offer acupuncture for pregnant women and post labor as well to help with pains, any morning sickness, headaches, etc. and I have to admit I was a little tempted to give it a shot again.

I did it! I had thin type pcos and wasn't ovulating at all. I had about a year of acupuncture, six months of herbs (during which time I started ovulating again) then did a cycle of cycle monitoring and got pregnant. I'll be trying acupuncture again to try and turn our little breech baby.

I'm doing it now but not specifically for fertility since I'm just finishing up a medicated cycle and my acuuncturist didn't want to overload my body, so she's been doing it for general relaxation and circulation benefits. If we still haven't conceived after another few medicated cycles, I will probably ask my dr to do more fertility-based treatments...I totally believe it works!

I did it, it didn't "work" to get me pregnant but it made me super relaxed and also TOTALLY relieved me of my PMS, cramping, and gut issues I was having with each menstrual cycle. That alone made me a believer!

I did weekly acupuncture treatments to help fertility twice and both times I was pregnant the first month!! Definitely a believer. I have only done community acupuncture so it's easier on the wallet but it really relaxes me and helps me sleep better.

I totally would! There are definitely studies that show acupuncture is good for fertility. Amongst many other things (like going into labor)

I did acupuncture during IVF. If nothing else, it helped me slow down and focus on my body and the fertility process. During each session I listened to a guided meditation on my iPhone for the phase of treatment I was in. I totally believe in the mind-body connection.

As for us, I love acupuncture, but it made our surrogate nervous. She did it the first time around and it didn't work. This time she didn't do acupuncture and she's pregnant. I think it has to do with whether or not you're open to it and enjoy it.

I love acupuncture and strongly believe in it, so if I had fertility needs I'd definitely try it.

I'll be starting acupuncture tomorrow - it's "community" acupuncture, so it's considerably more affordable. I'm curious to see how it goes and if I like it! (and of course, if it helps our ttc efforts!)

I've never been very good at sitting still for very long, so that's my biggest worry, ha

Overall it went well this morning! It was... interesting. But I'll be going back for a while, for sure. She also wants me to try something called moxabustion, which involves a "mugwort cigar" and sounds totally weird. I googled for more info, and found that it can often be used in addition to acupuncture for fertility, particularly to treat a "cold uterus". I don't like the sound of a "cold uterus". Hmmmmm....

@alie: My acupuncturist recommended moxa sticks for my cold uterus, too, but the smoke from the stick was just too intense for me. Did they recommend dietary changes for a cold uterus? I was encouraged to eat lots of ginger, cinnamon, cayenne and shrimp, and lay off raw vegetables and wheat to help warm my uterus.

After two losses last year, I did acupuncture for about 3 months-- i went once a week or every other week. I also took some herbs that the acupuncture recommended. I went to a fertility acupuncturist who helped a friend of mine get pregnant before too. I got pregnant in September and I'm still pregnant (about 9 1/2 weeks) with a good ultrasound last week at 8 weeks 6 days which I never had before. So I think acupuncture totally helps!

Currently in my TWW of my first IUI with acupuncture. This is my second IUI cycle, though. I'm trying something new and I'm hoping acupuncture is just what I need.

I had an acupuncture treatment a week before the IUI, the day of the IUI, and one week after the IUI. I'm going in for my two week post IUI treatment on Thursday... aka 14 DPO. Let's cross my fingers that I get the BFP soon.

It is making me more calm. I feel good.

Oh, no herbs, yet, and no diet restrictions.

I had my first acupuncture appointment this morning. Since this is all new to me I was wondering if anyone else had heard this?

The acupuncturist told me that since we've been trying for 1.5 years it could be hard on my kidneys? She recommended that we not try for the next three months while I have weekly appointments and take some other herbs. The three month period is supposed to repair/heal my body. Has anyone else ever been given this advice?

I feel confused now...DH and I were thinking about giving IUI a go next month. But, now I feel like her advice is to wait? I guess I should have asked her more about her perspective on this.

She also told me that she has high success rates in helping with IF. She also recommended DH come in to help with his morphology issues.

I guess we could possibly wait 3 months before trying IUI? I feel lost.........ugh!

@ Mrs. Pinata: Gotcha! That does help I was just shocked when she said the waiting part...more waiting?! Just what I need! But, it makes sense to be as healthy as possible before a treatment. Thank you!

@winter_wonder: I don't think having sex with your husband on a regular basis would be bad for your kidneys! Maybe if you were on a lot of fertility meds, but TTC naturally is what our bodies are made to do. And I agree with @Mrs. Pinata, giving a new treatment 3 months is a good plan.

@winter_wonder: What? Kidneys? I could ask my acupuncturist about TTC being hard on the kidneys.

I could see if we had an increase number of users with IF complaining about kidney pain, but I haven't heard anyone with IF talk about that. Honestly, I don't know what kidney pain would feel like. Haha.
