Any Bees out there who have tried acupuncture when TTC? What was your experience like? Do you think it helped? I'm headed off next week for my first appointment and I'm really excited. At best I figure it will help us get pregnant, and at worst, maybe a little stress relief - which won't hurt our chances either.

i did and i really believe it worked!!!! i also took herbs recommended by the acupuncturist and took progesterone prescribed by the ob/gyn to bring on a period. did the acupunture for about 2 months and i was preggo! i found the experience relaxing but also that it brought a lot of emotions to the surface - i almost cried a couple of times in the acupuncture room. it was definitely worth it and i'll do it again once i'm ready to TTC.

When I went off the pill I didnt get my period for a year. I went to see a fertility specialist and he told me that I wouldn't ever get pregnant and if I did I would miscarry. I started doing acupuncure (my DH is an acupuncturist and one of his teachers is a fertility specialist) and 2 years later was still doing it and taking herbs. We started NTNTC and less than a month later I got pregnant. I am now 8 weeks and went for my ultrasound and everything looked amazing. Strong heartbeat at 155bbm and baby was moving around like crazy! I STRONGLY believe that acupuncture and herbs is what got me pregnant and has kept me healthy and pregnant so far.

I did acu and herbs for 4-5 months while ttc. While I didn't get pregnant during that time, I really think it was beneficial for my overall health and well being. It regulated my cycles majorly. And it was wonderfully relaxing, and I loved having someone to talk to every week about my random ttc questions.

I started acupuncture about 6 weeks ago. I went of BC in October (after almost 13 years) and didn't get a period until this month. I really think acupuncture is what finally brought on my period!
Acupuncture has also helped with my stress and anxiety, which can only approve fertility. Good luck with it!

I have a friend going through ivf and she's doing it. They'll take her ivf calendar and having her do certain things that coincide with the whole ivf process. She hasn't started yet, but it sounds awesome and I have high hopes that it will work.

I didn't have acupuncture to get pregnant, but I had acupuncture done to go into labor.

I didn't do acupuncture to get pregnant per se, I did it to help with some lung/breathing issues I had related to a viral lung infection and some unrelated digestion issues. I happened to do it in the three months before we were TTC and given the combination of herbs and the points we did, I think it was instrumental in helping me be healthy in order to support a pregnancy.
I also did acu in order to get labor going. -
Thanks for letting me know about your experiences. I'm really excited to give it a try. It will be some nice "me" time and help me feel like I'm doing something. The power of positive thinking and getting healthy go a long way.

I used accu to get pregnant... started going in September and have gone every 2 weeks. Just got a BFP this morning, but it was in conjunction with Clomid. Accu did help me get my cycles back on track though, I had 60-70 day cycles before and they went down to 35.
It's one of the most relaxing things I've ever done!!! Go for it! -

I had my first appointment last night and it was wonderful! In addition to more appointments, she had some suggestions for home, too. She said my cold feet (literally) means poor circulation in my lower half, including my uterus. So I'm supposed to wear double socks and I've got my feet on a heating pad. Of course, I'm working from home right now, I guess that wouldn't work for everyone. She also mentioned that my LP is on the short side, so we'll work on lengthening that. It was very relaxing and nice to have someone to talk to about everything!

I'm so glad your experience was a good one...I did acupuncture for 9 months after a miscarriage and am currently 13w4d pregnant. I really enjoyed acupuncture and feel like it played a role in getting me to where I am with making my baby dreams come true! Wishing you lots of luck!

I didn't have acupuncture, but I did have a couple of treatments of Bowen Therapy. It is similar in that it deals with releasing trapped energy/chi/blood flow whatever. I definitely believe that it helped me to get pregnant.

Ohh! I had a treatment on Tuesday. I told my accupuncturist that I was worried when nausea set in b/c I get really bad motion sickness and had read that it makes pregnancy nausea worse. He told me that accupuncture helps with the nausea and that since I had been getting treatments for several months, I may not experience or that it won't be nearly as bad! Woohoo!

@CarrieLouWho: Wow - wouldn't that be great! I have terrible trouble with motion sickness and I'm really scared about morning sickness because of that. Another great reason to stick with acupuncture while I'm trying to get pregnant.

@kml636: My husband found it when he'd been having some back problems before we met and then he recommended it to me.
The woman we see isn't a masseuse or a reiki practitioner, she specializes in Bowen, reflexology, and "spiritual healing". I never would have tried it if not for my husband as I don't usually go in for new-agey type treatments.

I love acupuncture. The feeling of relaxation is incredible. We're working on building healthy eggs, so fingers crossed.

I tried acupuncture for 3 months (couldn't afford it any longer after that) about months 6-9 of TTC. I didn't get pregnant till months later but really enjoyed it.
My sister was TTC for 2 1/2 years, had clomid, IUI, and had stopped all that. Then she had acupuncture (I was urging her to go,, I have to take credit!) and got her BFP the first month.

@kml636: I've only been to two appointments, but I really feel like even just spending 1-hour once a week for me has been really beneficial in reducing my stress levels. TTC is stressful and largely out of our control (even if we don't want it to be). Acupuncture seems like one way of taking a little bit of control :). Best of luck!

I tried acupuncture after AF was 2+ weeks late and HPT were coming back negative. Hours after my first appointment AF showed up.
I have been continuing to go do acupuncture 1/week. My following cycle was right back to normal. I really enjoy it and feel like it's a special relaxing time to focus on me. It also helped with PMS.
I just got a BFP! So I am looking forward to using acupuncture for any complaints or discomforts that pop up. -
@hotpink: Congratulations on your BFP! I, too, am hoping that acupuncture helps with TTC. It has definitely helped with PMS/cramps, so I know it is doing something good for my body :)!

I haven't read pp and this isn't exactly what you asked but I know a women who uses accuptunture for lactation with amazing results. Her acupuncture treatments have increased her lactation by over an oz per pumping session. She's also had great results with it treating other health issues so I believe it could work.

@GreenThumb: I had my first appointment yesterday. She gave me some herbs for my anxiety. I found it relaxing, but I'm also a little worried about the cost of going once a week. I'm not sure how long DH will let me go without insurance paying. Oh well, I'm going to use up my Flex Spending Account and then worry about it...

@kml636: Best of luck to you! I hope that it helps! I'm also using up my Health Savings Account on it... we'll see what happens when that runs out, too. I've been through one whole cycle and the biggest difference she and I noted is that I had NO cramping this month during AF! This is crazy since I've had bad cramps since coming off BC back in August. This month we are working on increasing CM and bloodflow (also with herbs). Keeping my fingers crossed!

i was going for a while. maybe 2 months. it was relaxing. I was also getting concerned about the cost. it was $60 each time I went, insurance didn't cover it. I did notice that my O date moved up a bit, but I'm not sure if it was acupuncture related.
anyway, i stopped right before xmas and decided not to go back - and I got pregnant in february....
perhaps it helped with bloodflow - it definitely eased some stress, but january in general i was busy with taking guitar lessons and looking for new jobs and traveling, i wasn't even thinking about TTC --- and I'm pretty sure that helped do the trick for me.

Well, within 2 weeks after my first appointment... and I have a BFP! Was it just a coincidence? I'll never know, but I am convinced it helps!
I am still worried about the cost, but going to go once a week and use the herbs she gives me through the first trimester.
