SNL is right... this is the saddest song ever!
I just made Charlie listen to it to see if he would cry... no dice!
Do you listen to sad music when you are down? What do you listen to... and is anything sadder than "Someone Like You"?

For some reason I like to listen to the spring awakening soundtrack when I'm down.

HAHA
I used to listen to sad music when I was younger and single. Haven't done it in many many years.
I'm totally not an Adele fan.. I think I'm the only one..?

@chopsuey119: Why you hate on Adele? She so sad, she needs our love.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@mrbee: HAHA I don't hate on her.. I just don't think she's got an "incredible" voice. I hate when people are all hype but don't live up to it! (in my opinion).
*edit: I don't think my comment makes sense. but you get what i'm saying.

@chopsuey119: I never know who people are! My friends always talk about going to concerts and I'm always so clueless... if it's not broadway I don't know it!

@artbee: She won Six Grammys this year, tying the all time record for most Grammys won by a woman in one night. She was the 2011 Billboard artist of the year.

That's the official version. The unofficial version is that she went through a rough breakup and really missed her ex and wrote the world's saddest songs about it.

@chopsuey119: I have trouble hearing her voice... I'm usually crying when her music is on. Kidding, sort of.

@artbee: Mrs. Bee keeps me in the loop on modern artists! My favorite artists are Oscar Peterson, Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald.

@mrbee: FACT: "And So it Goes" by Billy Joel is the saddest song ever. Listen to that one and tell me you don't feel like shooting yourself!
No disrespect to Adele, though

I love Adele. Roxanne's "It Must Have Been Love" is the best breakup song ever.

This might sound odd, but I always found 'Don't Cry' by Guns n Roses a hugely sad song. Other than that, some of the older Irish rebel songs are more than melancholy!
And yes, Adele is great. Unfortunately I have to make appropriate impressed noises when SIL sings her songs... She has a lovely voice, but not in Adele's league!

I don't think there are songs sadder than hers. I bet that poor sucker regrets breaking up with her now, ha! As for music, I actually like listening to old school Linkin Park when I'm upset.

@Mrs. Yoyo: Totally agree on Billy Joel's "and so it goes". So gut wrenching, but so good!

"Whiskey Lullaby" by Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss.... saddest song ever. I don't even like country music, but it makes me cry ever. single. time. I hear it. It's just so depressing.
I think Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton is incredibly sad too, especially when you know what he wrote it about.
I love Adele though. I'm a big fan. The acoustic version of Someone Like You that's on 21 is incredible. I like it better than the original.

Adele is my go to Monday music...depressing because I'm usually depressed to be back at work for the week! I prefer the songs that are not overplayed on the radio though,

I love that song. But I don't listen to sad music when I am depressed either. Like @chopsuey, I used to do that when I was much younger -- maybe in high school?

I don't think that song is sad, just creepy. If one of my exes showed up now that I'm married and was going on about how they were still in love with me, I would be pretty uncomfortable. I mean, it's a pretty song and all, but the lyrics freak me out.

@Rock n Roll: Good point. I am always missing stalker-y behavior in songs. I used to love "Every Breath You Take" by The Police, until someone made a similar point:
Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you
Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you
Oh can't you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take
Creepy!! I just listened to the song though and I still like it. I guess I have a blind spot for stalkers in my tunes!

@mrbee: haha I have called that "the stalker theme song" for ages. But I also like it. It's one of the first songs I can remember hearing on the radio as a kid.
admin / wonderful grape / 20724 posts
@Mrs. Yoyo: Me too! I guess we just love the songs from our youth? Although I think it's a great song too... I interpret the song as coming from someone who really likes someone else, rather than as coming from a stalker.
