I definitely have baby fever and my hubby and I have decided that after this cycle we'll be TTC. I'm excited but nervous at the same time. We've been married for almost 3 years and together for 11. Any advice for a first timer?

Start taking prenatals! And are you looking to go with the flow or do you want to start charting? Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a great book if you're interested in learning more about the process!

I would say have fun for now, but once we decided to TTC I pretty much went all out by month 2, temping, OPKs- I just wanted that BFP - and it came not too long afterwards.
Definitely start with the prenatals and try not to stress to much!!

Ditto with the above recommendations! Take prenatals or the equivalent (I take a multivitamin, fish oil, folic acid and calcium/D instead), cut back on alcohol/coffee if you drink a lot and definitely relax! If you're just coming off BC, I may have additional input

My OB said to cut back on alcohol, not just you but DH too. Also she said no hot baths for DH. As for the TRYING part, if you are wanting to start more fun, just DTD every other day when your period is done for two weeks or so. If you want to be more vigilant, Fertility Friend helps you track temperatures (if you choose to temp) CM, other symptoms, and when you BD/test. I would also recommend OPK's CD10-20. Good luck!!!

Thanks for all of this!! I've been off my BC for a year now (I went off with the hopes my body would get into a natural cycle, and it did. I'm exactly 28 days every cycle).
I take B12/Iron because I have to, and I have been taking folic acid for 2 months and I bought an OPK kit. I'm also on a prescribed medication which my doctor said is perfectly safe for me to stay on if/when I get pregnant.
Is there a benefit or downfall to DTD every other day vs every day? I have been using fertilityfriend to chart my cycles and potential OV days but not doing the temperature part.
I am doing my best to relax and have fun but I'm anxious at the same time!

hi and welcome! my advice would be to relax, start taking care of your body (work out, take prenatals (with dha & folic acid), start taking note of your cycles, and always remember to keep realistic expectations!
It took me a little over a year to get pregnant, and the hardest part of the TTC process, for me, was having realistic expectations. with no real health complications, relatively young age, etc etc, i assumed it'd take me a few tries (3 at most) to see my first positive test result. as each month rolled by and i wasnt seeing the results i was expecting, it became harder and harder to deal with it. After a year of actively trying (taking my temp every morning, peeing on ovulation sticks etc etc) the ONE time i decided to screw it all and just have fun, i got preggo (true story).

Try not to stress out if it doesn't happen right away.
Start taking prenatals (especially ones with folic acid).
Charting + OPKs can make some people crazy, but I loved being able to see exactly what my body was doing.

Ok so maybe every day isn't realistic as I don't know what his count is like. I bought a digital 20 day OPK so I'll see what happens. I bought POAS tests but I won't use them until I am "late". Thanks for all the great advice.

Have you read the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility"? That was a huge help when we started trying because I could figure out exactly when my fertile window was (I didn't chart, just looked at the CM).
