It seems that when you get married people automatically assume you are trying to conceive which can bring up some pretty interesting advice, suggestions and opinions. What is the most humorous or outlandish piece of advice you have received in respect to TTC? Looking back on some of the things you have actually tried is anything funny to you? Any of them actually work? =)

No one gave me any TTC advice.
When people talk to me about TTC I just tell them to save up their energy and have lots of sex between days 8-16 of their cycle. -
I've been advised to chart from some and others not. The not came from a super fertile friend. I liked my doctor's advice best of just have fun with it. She really calmed me down about the the TTC process.

Nobody gave us any advice, mostly because we didn't tell anyone we were TTC. As for now, I just tell people that ask to have a lot of sex, and have fun!

Im the oldest of my group of friends and one of the only with out a child of my own. Was recently told I should "Get on it! Your not getting any younger" Not really that odd but I was kind of thrown off how blunt this friend was about it! I am not even that old!
I am ready to TTC like NOW, DH is more comfrotable with next year. Which is not far away and I am more than fine with. So next year it is. A friend told me just to try now anyways, he doesnt need to know that "I" am trying! Whaaaaaaaat! -
@rescuemom10 haha what a good friend. lol judging by your response you want DH on board and ready =) He may come around sooner you never know. I am ready now too and my DH is literally just starting to come around to wanting to time it out and see when we are most likely to conceive.

No one gave me advice. But I do have a friend who could have used some. She said that they wanted to have a baby but they were doing 3 things wrong. 1. Timing (guess she didn't know when she ovulates), and I forget the other one. But she never told me the 3rd thing. I kind of felt like I should be giving her the sex talk.

The only advice we've gotten is to wait longer! No one knows we are trying, but our families always tell us to wait when we see them. We're not listening to them.

Somebody told me that I should put my legs up in the air (plow pose style) after sex. I'd rather spoon, thanks. Haha.

@mole: That one's been around a long time. I don't think that I did it this cycle. I think I just popped in an Instead Cup and went about the rest of my day/night. I figure that the Instead Cup is the lazy TTC way of throwing their legs up in the air.

@mole: There's quite a bit of info on the Instead Cup and TTC on the internets. It was one of those crazy suggestions on the internet for TTC actually. I read up on them and got a box. I figure it's the lazy way of doing the hips up in the air thing.

No specific advice, but my parents and extended family tell us to try before I get any older (I'm only 28!), and our friends with kids tell us to enjoy "us" time for as long as possible!
Good thing, DH & I know we're ready and can try as we please!

I was told to chart and that helped the most I believe because we tried for 8 mos. but conceived on the second chart cycle. I was also told to get adjusted by a chiropractor 3 times. I did it and within a week after the 3rd, found out I was pregnant!

Worst advice-- don't stress, just let it happen, etc. I'm 41 (40 when we started TTC) and at this age nothing is going to "just happen"!!
I started temp and CM charting, then added CBEFM. They just showed me that I wasn't Oing. I've moved on: Last cycle it was a trigger shot (Ovidrel) and "timed intercourse". This time it's FSH shot (Gonal-F), estrogen to support a lining, Trigger shot and IUI.
The crazy things I've done- putting a pillow under my hips and waiting 30 mins after BD. Eating lots of fresh pineapple during the TWW (enzyme is suppose to help with implantation). And wearing a Haramaki (or Belly Warmer- think leg warner for your belly). My Japanese relatives swear by them. It's suppose to keep all your baby making parts super warm which is suppose to be good for all things baby.
