Did your belly still look pregnant for awhile, or did it go back to a "normal" size pretty quickly? How long did it take you to fit back into non maternity bottoms? Just some questions I was pondering as I put my laundry away, haha

My belly went down almost immediately, but my hips, butt and thighs had spread enough during my pregnancy that it took 6 months before I could fit into my pre-preg fat jeans, and at 9.5 months pp I still can't fit into my regular ones (I caved and bought cheap jeans in a bigger size for now because I got tired of wearing maternity jeans.)
That said, though, I've done little to no working out besides walking/light jogging. I'm paranoid it will hurt my supply, and am not willing to risk it (especially now, so close to my 1 year goal).

Hopefully this will give you an idea! The second picture is me today at 4w3d pp. I'm still not in my Pre pregnancy bottoms but I gained way too much weight while pregnant.

@Pepper: I looked chunky but not pregnant after I had her, but it took over 5 months for me to fit in my pre-preggo pants.

I read recently that your uterus isn't back in your pelvis fully until about 6 weeks postpartum. I've lost a lot of weight at 4 weeks 2 days, but can't fit in my old pants. I bought a pair from old navy that are 2 sizes bigger than normal, and those fit. I'm very squishy... I gained about 40 lbs, and started at a size 0/2.

i think everyone is really different when it comes to this....
I was back in my pre-preg jeans at 3 or 4 weeks pp. They were a little snug though, but my maternity pants were too big.
i gained about 30 pregnant, and dropped it by 4 weeks - have a little belly still, need to work on that!

I would say my belly was still pretty round for a good 2 weeks after I gave birth. I fit in my pre-preg jeans at 5 weeks, but they were definitely tighter! I have never been thin, but pregnancy caused my weight to shift a lot. My hips are wider & my tummy looser. I just wear mostly dresses these days, because I feel like I have an old man FUPA. Yuck!
ETA: I once heard someone say, "9 months up, 9 months down," which I think is a good mentality. Your body will be different post-baby, but that's okay... you grew a human!

I fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans 4 days postpartum, although everything was saggier and squishier.

5 weeks PP. I usually wear a 10 and can wear a 12 right now with some muffin action. I have 20 lbs to lose. I'm squishy but not as bad as I expected. There's still some hip, thigh, butt spread going on . I've been doing the elliptical for a week and just started barre classes today

I was very lucky and my stomach flattened almost immediately after giving birth. I had bought a Belly Bandit but returned it, as I didn't need it. It did take a while for my jeans to fit though and at 5 months pp, some of them are still a bit snug - I attribute this to my thighs/butt expanding. But I am finally back at the gym and looking to do something about that!

@blackbird: you already started barre classes? Wow, I'm impressed.

I felt like I looked pregnant FOREVER but I gained 60 pounds during my pregnancy, lol.

@plantains-it's sooo hard! It's unbelievable how trashed my core is. I need my work clothes to fit before I go back to work

@sslm: @blackbird: You ladies look great!
@Silva: I never knew that, but it makes sense... considering how big the uterus gets by the end!

I didn't get very big while pregnant and immediately after having birth my belly was pretty much back to how it was pre-pregnancy, it just looked a bit swollen. I got home 4 days later and was able to fit into my skinny jeans but I stuck to wearing leggings for a while. 8 months pp and I'm gaining weight due to eating bad food but oh well!

I lost all my pregnancy weight and was back into all my pre-pregnancy clothing before 6 weeks was up. I would say my clothing started fitting again around 4 weeks pp.

This was 2 days and 11 days PP, sorry the quality isn't great I did some cropping. I never wore maternity pants I just used belly bands and then several weeks PP just wore sweats/yoga pants so I can't say how long it took to get back into them.

My abs are trashed haha, I looked pregnant for quite a while after delivery. I gained a ton of weight while pregnant and it was all belly/baby; I started wearing maternity pants by 10 weeks because I couldn't wear my normal pants anymore (could have worn them in the legs, not the waist). It's a work in progress; I've only now been cleared for intense ab exercises.

My belly was back to normal after about 10 days, maybe 2 weeks. My normal isn't a perfect flat tummy, though, so that helped.

I was able to get back in my pre-preg jeans quickly (2 or 3 weeks?). Things are certainly not the same though. At almost 8 months PP everything is still kind of....soft. Oh well.
ETA: my weight gain during pregnancy was on the low side and I delivered at 36 weeks, so I'm sure that made the recovery a little easier.

@FutureMrsMcK: yup.
My belly is so not the issue. It went down half it's size after birth. Another good amount by 2w pp and all the way by 6-8w? I have a flat belly but my hips are wider and thighs didn't get smaller until I got myself on a treadmill!
So, stomach-wise, my pants could have fit. Leg-wise: they wernt fitting. They are skin like veryyy right at 7m pp but I wear them everyday

@Pepper: I went home almost with no belly.. after about a week or so it was pretty much flat. But I tend to gain in my thighs... I might have been able to fit into the pants then, but tight fitting pants made me really sore, so I stuck with yoga pants, etc..

I lost the weight but still looked pregnant until 3 months pp - my uterus took a long time to shrink all the way back down and my stomach muscles were (and are) separated. I carried huge though so I think I was the exception not the norm.

I looked about 5-6 mos pregnant right after birth. It took a month or so to fit back into my regular jeans. But after I weaned at 6 mos I gained 10 lbs and no longer fit into all my pre preggers pants

Belly went down a week pp. Fit into pp jeans at 11 wks pp and I gained almost 40 lbs! Extra weight is mostly in my arms/bf boobs!

I want to say my belly took a week to not look pregnant still. At 7 weeks PP I still had 8 lbs to lose. Now at 10, I can fit into a couple pre pregnancy jeans but they are much tigher in the thighs and give me a muffin top so I can't wear them still. My LO is a little high maintenance so no time to workout other then morning walks at the park with her.
nectarine / 2631 posts
I was in regular jeans 4 days after having LO! And lost all my weight by 9 days pp. I don't thinks that normal though!

This is me 5 days pregnant vs 2 weeks post partum. Definitely wont fit into my jeans for a while! I'm still up around 8 lbs.
