Has anyone used this technique before to clarify juice?
It looks like I might be able to use agar clarification in order to make a "clear" pineapple juice for DS's procedure, but I was just wondering if anyone has actually tried it here?

Nope but sounds intriguing ! So does the agar capture the solids and you are left with juice?

@T-Mom: Yes! It is supposed to trap the solids (color and impurities) and then leave you with the good stuff! Hopefully it works because straining the pulp alone still left me with a cloudy juice. We made vegan "jello" yesterday with the agar and DS seemed to love it, but won't touch the stuff today I have to make sure he is okay with the agar first but I'm super excited to see if it works!

@Anbanan15: Cool sounds like a neat technique.. Is he ok with seaweeds and the like?

@T-Mom: I think so too! I saw someone did it with orange juice too! He hasn't had any type of seaweed before. We have been wanting to trial agar for awhile, but I couldn't pull the trigger. I guess last week was a big enough push to try. He did fine with it yesterday, but it usually takes a few days to know for sure.

@anbanan15: I hope he does ok with it! If so, maybe you could expand and try other sea plants..

@T-Mom: Thanks! I really want to do Salicornia, but I can't find it around here (I have a craving for it haha). He loves kale/kale chips which to me has a similar taste/texture to some sea veggies so he might just go for them!

@anbanan15: wow I have never heard of that but I was thinking the garden variety nori snacks . Or kelp.

@T-Mom: I tried this out today! I think it turned out pretty good given my first try. I think I can get a "clearer" product next time, although it does look clearer IRL.
I had a little issue getting the amount of agar right so I just guessed (my gram scale wasn't working). Also my yield wasn't that good since the nut bag I initially used was like 200 micron and I lost a lot when I transferred to using 3 layers of muslin, which worked out so much better! Overall I'm pleased with the results.
The first picture is the pineapple juice itself. The second one is after running it through my nut bag to remove some of the pulp before agar clarification. You can see there really isn't much difference here although the nut bag was clogged with pulp! The last picture is after clarification. IRL you can see through it much more.
