@Boogs: All You Can Eat!
Ohhhh...I could go for a Las Vegas buffet right now. I think I'll be out there when I'm 30 weeks. This mama is going to chow.down.

@mediagirl: OMG I was going to do to a post on buffets. I LOVE BELLAGIO's buFFAT!

@chopsuey119: OMG, I'm actually going to an AYCE Korean BBQ tonight! MooDaePo is a big one in Little Korea/Seoul, and they just opened up a location in OC!
I love AYCE everything... buffets (going to a AYCE brunch on Sunday for MIL's surprise birthday-- no champagne for me, though), sushi, Chinese buffets... AHHH food. My friends keep telling me that I need to focus more on quality than quantity, but I think the Asian-ness in me is forever attracted to buffets.

@HabesBabe: I used to live in Fullerton too!! Have you been to Surah? Their AYCE is good too! *sigh. I used to eat Korean bbq at least 2x a month when I was in CA. Sad times..
Enjoy your yummies tonight!
Try TAPS sunday brunch sometime. TO DIE FOR.

@chopsuey119: omg, small world! I've never been to Surah, but they just opened a Cham Soot Gol near Knott's, so it's a lot more convenient (and less crowded!) than the Garden Grove location. Will definitely need to check it out!
MMM I love Taps (it's my mom's favorite restaurant), but I've never been for brunch-- I love love love oysters, too, so I'll need to wait until this parasite is out before I can fully enjoy!

@enjollah: I think it's safe as long as you cook the meat thoroughly-- although I've been flirting with danger since I enjoy my beef medium-rare to rare.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@HabesBabe: So Cham Soot Gol is my least favorite bbq place in OC! There are so many better places. Surah's in La habra! Really good quality meat and yummy banchans. It seriously kills me that there are only like 5 korean bbq places in all of Georgia. KILLS ME.
Make sure to take your mom to try the brunch at Taps. Omg. I'm craving the breadddd..
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@enjollah: Totally okay during pregnancy as long as you cook the meat completely! I like my kbbq meat well done and crispy so it wasn't a problem for me!
grapefruit / 4400 posts
@chopsuey119: my mom LOVES the bread (I think because of the garlicy-goodness, and because it's free! LOL). The only way I can get her to the brunch is if I don't tell her how much it costs. She's way too thrifty to want anyone to spend that much on one meal.

@HabesBabe: OMG don't even talk to me about eating beef medium-rare! That's how i like it too! Mmm!! This post may be creating a craving for me! I'll let hubs know...haha!

I have never even heard of it! The downfalls of living in a small town is we have like 3 places to eat: Applebees, Famous Daves, HuHot! We also have some "local" places to eat, but thats about it!

@HabesBabe: Have you been to Brodard?! BEST vietnamese food ever. Their spring rolls are FAMOUS.
grapefruit / 4400 posts
@chopsuey119: yes, I have (I'm actually Vietnamese)!-- love love love their nem nuong rolls.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@HabesBabe: I slurp up the sauce like it's soup! I really need to get back to CA. -.- It's a good thing I wasn't pregnant in CA. I think I could easily have gained 70 lbs.

I like going with my dad. I usually don't feel like I eat my moneys worth, but if he's there he'll eat enough for the both of us.

@chopsuey119: uh yes, this is a fear that I am quite worried about. Food everywhere! Luckily, my appetite has gone whacko since getting knocked up, so I'm not eating as much as I used to-- I'm surprised I haven't gained any weight yet! Although I still have 30 weeks to go... WAH
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@HabesBabe: lucky! I gained 15 lbs my first trimester.. -.-

@HabesBabe: hahahaha! That is like our go to place! For years it was our only restaurant that wasn't a local!

Oh man, I love Korean BBQ. Unfortunately, there are none around where I live!! There is a quasi-Korean taco place which is pretty good but thats it I love all the spicy sides they give you, even if I don't know what half of them are. They are tasty and that's all I need to know!
grapefruit / 4400 posts
@yoursilverlining: i think the best thing about korean food is all of the sides/banchans!
eggplant / 11824 posts
@HabesBabe: totally! I feel like such a goober though when we do get Korean BBQ because I'm all like "can I have more.....of this one?!" and have to show them, since I don't know what it is lol

We have an all you can eat Chinese place not too far from us. A little further down Milwaukee Avenue is an all you can eat Polish restaurant. So good. I haven't been there in years, but still have good memories of it.

I'm not a fan because I never eat my moneys worth and can't take any leftovers home.

Only sometimes. I could do it before I was pregnant but now I can't eat a whole lot at one time so it isnt much fun any more.

i go every once in awhile with hubs. mmm. buffets in general aren't worth it for me because i never eat my money's worth. but the place we go to nowadays is only like $20 or so each person and usually to order meat a la carte for 1 person is like almost $30. not sure how they make money.
grapefruit / 4400 posts
I also love LOVE Souplantation. I load up on the Chinese chicken salad at the beginning. MMMM. Hubs hates it because it's only salad and, well, soup.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
@HabesBabe: OMG I LOVE SOUPLANTATION!! where have you been all my life? we could have been best eating buddies..
the chinese chicken salad is my FAVE!

@chopsuey119: ah i miss taps. my parents still live in diamond bar. i always used to go to taps!

omg I love buffets. I don't normally eat my share, but I absolutely love the variety. Our parents always take us when we visit them in NYC and Philly. We have almost none around here. We definitely have zero Korean buffets... I've heard rumors of one but haven't been. I ate Old Country Buffet the night before I went into labor... haha. I always joke that it induced my labor.

buffets are deadly because i refuse to leave until i've gotten my money's worth... hahaha

I love AYCE! We have a sushi/korean BBQ one that we go to in my hometown that is awesome, but they don't have the yummy sides. In my (small) city, we just got a japanese AYCE and we just went, my pregnant self gorged on all of the cooked options and it was awesome!
I totally always go overboard, and feel overfull/sick when I leave, because I am so desperate to get my moneys worth!
