How do you spell this name? There are so many spellings out there. Just wondering what's most common/popular.

Alastair or Alistair - the first spelling you listed is a bit more of a 'you-nique' spelling I think. And it makes me think of an alligator!

I would've spelt it Aleister, but only because it was the name of a character on a show I watch and that's how they spell it.

but I'm biased since that's a family members name. I like the stair ending because that's how we pronounce his name (not Al-a-stir) I also don't think it needs a nickname

I think Allister is more typical to a surname. Well, at least that's my association, because my mom's maiden name is McAllister. For a first name, I'd agree that Alastair is probably more traditional.

A friend spells it alister and I've always thought that was normal!

This was on our list, and DH and I liked Alastor. We talked about Astor or Story as potential nicknames.
