FIL just asked DH when I was going to wean LO because breastfeeding is 'so inconvenient' for everyone else. He's pissed because he wanted to come over and DH told him no because I'm nursing right now. LO is only two weeks old! He told DH that nursing til even 3 months is excessive... Our nursing goal is a year plus! Thankfully DH laughed and told him straight up he was wrong.

That's crazy! People can be so annoying. Neither my mom nor mil breastfed so they've had some weird ideas too...

That's so ridiculous it's just funny! How dare you inconvenience people by feeding your baby?? It's been 3 weeks, can't you just get McDonalds or something?

I'm pregnant and still nursing my 13-month old and people think I'm totally batty. Seriously.

That's insane! I'm glad your DH has your (and you LO's) back. Although, it is annoying to feel permanently exiled to the bedroom for a constant nurser!

Go DH! My FIL is the only one I've ever gotten a comment from. as well.

my MIL was like that, when DS was three months old she said "uck! you're still breastfeeding??!"

No one has ever outright said something negative, but I've gotten the "Oh you're still nursing?!" comments. Mostly from co-workers who are shocked that I still need time to pump.

Ugh, tell me about it! Unfortunately my mother is the worst culprit. She asked me again today how long I plan to nurse. I've started answering by saying, "I'm just taking it day by day right now," but it doesn't help. Today she rolled her eyes and said, "One year? Yeah right!" So freaking frustrating!
