DH loves to bring sandwiches to work, but the deli meat he eats has way too much sodium, and overall isn't that healthy. I need some ideas for sandwiches or wraps that are healthier, but still easy for him to make!

Could you buy and carve a rotisserie chicken and use that instead of lunch meat?

hummus, roasted red peppers and spinach wrap or chicken cesaer salad wrap, because of no lunch meat when pregnant i've been eating BLTs but thats not any better than lunch meat sodium wise

@rahlyrah: That's a good idea...do you know how long that meat would stay good for?
@Andrea: I wonder if I could get him to eat avocado he does like tuna!

I'm a big fan of roasting a bunch of chicken breasts on Sunday and then slicing them up to put on salads or into sandwiches throughout the week.

@Chillybear: Great ideas, he won't touch hummus (can you guys tell he's picky?) but he can replace that with something else, I would love both of those options though so I may get the stuff to make myself some

@Bao: does he like guacamole? you could make it really tasty...practically like guacamole! yum. i make it at home so i also fry an egg and put it on top. i might have that for lunch today!

@Bao: Yep. It probably wouldn't last a full 7 days, but it works from Monday to Friday.

@Bao: My grandmother used to always buy turkey breasts (like, the entire breast) in the frozen section each weekend, bake or roast it, then slice it for sandwhiches all week.
My granddad worked in a sandwich meat factory in his younger days and refused to ever eat sandwich meat after that. The upside is that is much better for you, in terms of health.

A lot of times when we roast a turkey we will save the breast meat for sandwiches. Or buying ham and roasting it yourself.
We do grilled chicken sandwiches a lot as well.

@Bao: It should stay good for 4-5 days You can buy them pre-cooked at the grocery store for like $5 too, so it's a pretty good deal!

@hergreenapples: we do the same thing. We will grill it or what not on Sunday and have it all week - on salads, in a wrap, with rice, etc. This plan works so well for us. We do different marinades and seasonings to help jazz it up some too.

@Andrea: He does not like guacamole, but I love it! See my issue here? He never tells me what he wants but then doesn't like what I pick out, so then goes back to his yucky sandwiches.
@hergreenapples: ok thanks!
@wheres_c: Oh he may really like that one! I will have to ask.
@Anagram: Maybe I should just make some extra meat when making dinners (I usually make just enough, or maybe enough for 1 leftover meal) and then use the rest for his lunches.
@regberadaisy: Grilled chicken sandwiches, yummy!!

@Bao: gasp! guacamole is one of the best things ever!! it sounds like he likes meat so you can do steak, roast chicken, turkey, pulled pork, etc.

We get our deli turkey from whole foods, where the deli turkey is literally just a thinly sliced turkey -- not processed meat with fillers. It's more expensive, but much healthier.

@Andrea: I know, I am all about non-meat items and he is obsessed.
@scg00387: That sounds yummy!!
@skibobrown: I'm not sure if our store has an option like that...hmmm, I will check later!
