DH and I can't afford daycare. When we go back to work my sister will take her on Sundays and I will try to get my work as close to going around DH's as possible. We are hoping we will only need to have a sitter two or three times a week for a few hours.
Anyone else plan on winging it once they go back to work?

Well I'm kind of winging it now. I had surgery and cant pick lo up for at least a month. I'm a sahm. My mom is taking care of lo a lot, but if she cant make it I have to hope my husband can get off work or my fol can make it. Its not fun not knowing!

We don't have kids yet, but I'm thinking we won't be winging it since we don't live near family. If we did, then we might be more inclined to since I know my mom would LOVE to watch her grandbaby. She's already offered to take him/her back with her so we can go to work and what not. She lives 3.5 hours away - no ma'am! LOL!!

We definitely won't be winging it. I'm only 6 weeks pregnant and already on a day care waiting list. It's very competitive here and my husband and I both work full time and we don't have family close by. Being sure we were ready to afford full time day care was a big part of our decision making as to when we would start TTC.

We're winging it. I'd love to have a real plan, but my husband just can't make up his mind about how he wants to handle it all. We wouldn't be in this positions if we didn't have a lot of options, though. Both my SIL and MIL will be off for the summer (teachers) and both really want to watch him. I work for my FIL and he really wants me to bring in the baby as much as I feel comfortable with to work. He'll also work with me to work from home some. And we have a couple of friends whose daycares only take kids under 1 year and almost always have openings. If my husband really can't handle others watching him, I know we can make it work that I stay home full-time, so we're just going to play it by ear for a few months.

Nope unfortunately my job is a "9-5" job so I can't just wing it. And there's no family nearby to watch her either. Either way I would want to make sure they would be OK with it prior to assuming they will.

No way we could have winged it, not with both of us working 50 hours a week during business hours.

We can't wing it with our two LO's now and they are school aged. We are already figuring out what we will do with the next one and I'm not even pregnant yet lol

I work 8-5pm every day and DH works the same and sometimes longer hours so we need a fixed daycare plan and cant wing it

I wasn't able to wing it. In fact, we had daycare lined up months in advance. It took a lot of research to find someone we felt comfortable with. We both work full-time and don't have any family resources so it was tough. I think if you need a sitter for only a few hours a week, it might still be good to shop around.

Can't wing it here either. We both work traditional 8-430 jobs and can't afford one or us staying home FT. As much as I'm already sad about it off to daycare she goes!

Our current plan is to sort of wing it. My job is normal hours, so I'd be gone in the morning. DH doesn't leave the house for work until around noon. My mom gets off work around 1pm. What we're hoping will happen is for DH to wait for my mom to come over before he leaves. Then I come home sometime after 4. If DH needs to go out of town or my mom or I need to work OT, then that'll require more playing by ear.

When I go back I will only be working 20-25 hrs a week. Its a flexible schedule thankfully! We also have lots of family and friends. Dh will mostly be working nights so that kind of helps with me working around it.
Daycare here is just so expensive I would be working full time just to put her in it. We are lucky to have such a good support system! -
No we can't wing it since we both have jobs that aren't going to allow an excuse of "we couldn't find a babysitter." I'm almost 14 weeks and we already have an in home daycare lined up.

Pretty much in the same boat here! I don't work for my FIL but my boss is very open to having LO in the office as much as I need her to be. I'm very against putting our LO's in daycare (my husband is all for it) but with my income I'd be paying more than 1/2 of it towards daycare, and I'd much rather stay home and be the one taking care of them.
My Mom watches them for us when my husband and I are both working. Since my husband has been laid off for so long it isn't often that he is working.
